This guy had broken ribs and nobody knew if he would ever stand on the start line of a world tour race ever again, and then he finished 2nd in TdF like 2.5 months later.

People talking about this preparations being wrong so far. His mental not being in the right place...

I think you all miss something very important: this is 2nd top team in the world and he is the 2nd top cyclist in the world.

They know what they are doing.

Jonas is a warrior.

Unless some crash puts him out again, this guy will be at the start of TdF and compete with Pogacar like he always does.

Self confidence can take a mighty hit after such horrible accidents. Those accidents not only devastated his body, they have also affected his mentality and confidence. If he can get over the mental stress of riding he can come back.

What Visma did today in the crosswinds was impressive! Also the TTT was a thing of beauty. Add to that Jonas' victory in the TT in Algarve, it maybe also say something about a focus on TT bikes, where the team really seem to perform really well so far this season. His preparation is different this year: Have not been to altitude yet, riding in our little flat country of Denmark... I get it, that he has a long season ahead of him, but he needs to gain some confidence in the spring by winning, why I say this strategy of peaking later have not worked out very well. Also Matteo rode very aggressively in the first stages of Paris Nice picking up bonus seconds and getting in the leader's jersey. Therefore Jonas was played out first on the climbs, which did not work out for him. Why not let Matteo ride Tirreno and Jonas PN?! I remember how long it took for Remco to really get back after his horrible crash. Imagine the pressure of being two times defending TDF champion?! I say it's mainly the wrong preparation and lack of self confidence. His perspective has also changed a bit after the crash expressing how happy he is to be alive (very understandable)... but you still have to want it like a mad man... really hope he still does!

I like Pogi, but I’m sad about this. I really wish Jonas all the best for a perfect recovery, physically and mentally.

As a Pogi fan, this is sad for racing. Looking like another cake walk season for Pogi.

Thanks as always thecyclingdane!! So many different cycling channels out there so I only watch the ones I feel are worthy and obviously your channel fits into that category. Besides 2 network channels I only subscribe to about 3 or 4 cycling channels on this platform. Yours is one of those

World Tour riders are from another planet. I bet and wish Jonas’ triumphant return, even though I’m a fan of Tadej.

He doesn’t look well, hope the team clear up whatever is going on in the background. Something isn’t right, and yet another injury to deal with. These are all setbacks that are also a mental issue. I hope he comes back well, we need a July battle as fans.

Those 2 stages Jonas had problems with were one weather related and the other crash related and he still retired in second place to his team mate. Was a big big hit he took last season . Yeah do not panic Captain Mainwaring just yet . Still think he was priming himself up nicely

I wasn't worried, but I saw somewhere he'd said he doesn't want his kids to get into cycling as it's too dangerous, now if that's true, then I'm very worried for his mindset.

I must say I agree, I am worried that he has lost his mojo after last years race. As you say, normally his form is already miles ahead of everyone else, I know his season is longer this year, but it is worrying. All the best to our country's best cyclist ever.

I'm more worried about Visma as a whole, rather than just Vingegaard. Kooij and Matteo seems to be the only riders that has really started the season on form, many of their top riders like Vingegaard, Van Aert, Kuss, Yates and more is below the level we usually expect. Then people say "but it's only February/March - they will get better later on" - well, it's also only February/March for everybody else, you don't think they will get better as well? I fear something has gone wrong with their planning of the riders winter training programs, and they will be playing catch up all spring.

I do not understand why people try to make more of it than it realy is ? He has a contusion on the left hand, and he couldn't use his left hand brake anymore during yesterdays stage.. Seems only logic that you do not start anymore if you can't use your brakes ?!?!

People talking dumb sh*t about mental problems, have clearly not been watching cycling in 2024.... Did everybody forget how he won the Tour of Poland, and that he became second in the Tour last year ???

Thus no, there is nothing to worry about... He will win Catalunya in two weeks from now, with several minutes on the other podium finishers.

Hilarious …. Guy finished 2nd in the tour last year 12 weeks after a serious accident, producing better numbers thsn when he won it the previous 2 years ….. was leading the race till his accident, still finished and thankfully nothing broken . And we should be worried 🤣🤣……. Pogicar is on another level that’s not Vinregaard s fault he is by far the 2 nd best cyclist in the world atm

I like Jonas a lot but thus far this year, he actually looks physically unwell. As in he looks ill / under-nourished somehow.

Great analysis, but please work on the super annoying background music - it's really unbearable.

I think they rushed him back he should not have done the tdf after such a crash in just 2 months
This sport is such a small margin and stuff like this can derail careers
