Drums Through Doug’s Quantec QRS/XL

We recorded these drums in my basement for Charlie’s upcoming record, and now that we got this Quantec working for Doug we may as well see how the two sound together. The Quantec QRS/XL is similar sounding to the first QRS, but the parameters must be changed externally via software or some sort of remote. Thus, there is no way to alter the presets natively, so for our repair demo purposes, what you hear is what you get. The presets sound awesome anyway! These are rare units, perhaps as rare as the 2u version.

great demo, thx! I was always wondering how similar or different this would sound in comparison to an original 1st generation QRS. I own a QRS and a Yardstick, both sound very different, despite Quantec claiming that they’d share a very similar core algorithm. Bit it’s the same with EMT250 vs. 252 vs. TC DRV2 - it might be the same algorithm, but everything around sounds completely different - different ADDAs, companding, transformers, samplingrates or sr conversion methods, and so on. Have you ever compared a XL to an QRS directly? Findings?
