Stucco applications

Apply stucco with hawk and trowel and go devel.

For immediate bids, send pictures to Jay or myself at our sites below.

I tried to be different and experiment or be cute and use the go-devel for this patch.
The camera didn't show that we would have shaved off an hour if I had applied the stucco as a professional ought to have. What the hell? I was bored.

Oaky, since this wall is a bit thicker than the average stucco thickness. In the corners and tops. For any stucco applied more than one inch, gravity dictates that gravity will do the rest if more than an inch is applied.

As my brother Lu was filling the mud board, I was applying mud to the other side, hoping not to hear that familiar sound of cows shitting on flat rocks.
This can happen because I didn't account for the cold weather in this wind channel we worked in.

Few realize how cold it was on this day. I had on three shirts, was working fast and hard, and was still chilly; that's mighty cold to be all right.
Jason was filming me wearing his ski jacket; Lu's like a wildebeest from Africa, thus unaffected by the weather.

"Sounds like cows crapping on a flat rock" I'll credit you when I use that.

School don't teach you skill. skill is learned buy doing. I repair plaster mostly for painting. Sometime becouse people ask me to fix there's. your CLASS HAVE improved my skill level for matching substrates. wont do full walls turned 65 don't think big jobs are for me. but enjoy what I do thank you and God bless

I just found this channel all I wanted to do was patch a tiny bolt hole, but now my wife and I are watching these videos because Kirk has such a great personality. Its apparent to us that plastering isn't something that you can learn from a book, and therefore it is great to hear Kirk describe in so many ways how it feels, smells, etc. Also, I went back and looked at the upload history Kirk, isn't just a plastering guru, he was one of the early youtubers! Keep it up Kirk and Jay! Love the enthusiasm, I wish everyone had your attitudes when they went to work. I'm in Mountain View CA btw I saw you in Oakland on one video.

I've said it before. I was doing a block retaining wall with stucco finish as a side job in a friend's garden. (Car mechanic by trade, lame at/don't do body and cosmetic work.) I read up on the topic and got to work. My first attempts at getting scratch coat up resulted in much of the plaster falling to the ground and me resorting to hand scooping and mashing it back. That night I went to Youtube and found Kirk's channel. Watched all his well practiced, honed, and refined moves through a couple of great videos. Went and bought a hawk, and was surprised at how irrationally expensive they are. Then I set to work and was soon smoothly moving base coat from mixer to hawk to wall with great results and almost no waste. Ended up with a beautiful retaining wall with convex and concave curves, no cracks or signs of the mortar joints below even when wetted, and a great sponged tinted finish. He's not boasting when he says you can learn to stucco in his videos.

Great videos, great instructional videos. You truly are an inspiration, so cool when the entire family gets involved. Thanks for the help along the way. Stay well, YOU live long and plaster. Really helped on the coved ceilings. 🖖

Hey Kirk! I second that! Guys get off your backside and get some skills! Stucco is easy- on a 3x3 area- then you go to 30x30, and you know why Kirk is the master. But you can't get better if you don't do it! I learned from watching Kirk's videos, and stuccoed the front of my office.

I truly enjoy watching a master craftsman at work. Looking forward to my first stucco project in a few weeks (starting small). I'm sure it'll look wonky, but after watching your videos, I feel like I can make it passable.

Hello Kirk ....another entertaining, informative video . You need some t-shirts with " Bring out the aggregate " as the logo 👍

That tool is only maybe 2x the size of your massive, giant trowel. Seems you're faster with that humongous trowel, baby. That devil tool could use like a towel rack welded to the back. Thanks for the video. Lou is the man

A sign of a real professional when not even a splash of cement on that white shirt, next Kirk will do it with a 3 piece suit and tie !
