Any student loan of over $20, 000/year should not be legal. That will force Colleges and Universities to severely lower tuition, or go out of business.

I didn’t know you could borrow so much for college loans. Also, what pisses me off is that you can easily get a 6 figure student loan over time but, if you want to borrow that kind of amount to start a business or some kind of business transaction, the requirements are higher 😂

I hate to be "That guy" but the fact is all the people that sit there crying about student loan debt really have no one to blame but themselves. They CHOSE to go to college. They CHOSE to take out loans and in most cases (Not all) they CHOOSE to live above their means. I chose not to go to college and put myself through all that. I chose to learn a trade instead (Carpentry) and as such I'm debt free. I live a simple but fullfilling life and love what I do.

Its the interest rate that ups the amount. I know someone who pays 44 bucks to principle and 300 bucks toward interest. The interest is the killer

50k-100k in loans to 18-22 yr olds with no collateral...Bankruptcy law should cover this and these loans should be able to be discharged just like any other debt.

Education in US is too expensive, thanks to their fancy university gyms and buildings, I studied engineering in Canada with 8 thousand tuition per year, graduated last year 34 k in debt, and currently making more than double of that a year working in mining

College will be a thing of the past in the near future due to people stop going to the big expensive universities. It's just not worth it anymore unless the person gets a trade at a community college.

Colleges and universities have become what they despise: Big business. Colleges have long ago quit being a place of higher learning and is really High School 2.0. If you know who your daddy is and have the ability to sign your name on student loan document, then you can attend pretty much 90% of the colleges in this country.

I once asked a young lady I know who is $95k in student loan debt how it feels to be in that kind of debt where it is going to take her until she is in her 40's to pay it off just so her professors, administrators, and deans can pull down six figure salaries plus bennies and retirement packages?

LEAVE - move to live in the UK, Canada, Europe, Singapore or Australia - they have similar standards of living and most countries speak English. Usually also free health care, no guns, and other benefits.
The courts cannot enforce debt repayments from foreign countries.
I know if not an honourable decision but being a SLAVE (working all your life for someone) is worse. This is the main reason to stop this stupidity.

There should be a ceremony / parade every year for these students to brag about their achievements with awards, applause and hat throwing in the air. Just to encourage the next generation of students how it is done.

All schools overcharge for education, not just usc.

I had $14k in debt when I graduated and thought that was too much. Paid it off in 6 months. A Million dollars??? Better get a state job and have them wipe it away in 10 years because it's tough to tackle this and finish it under 10 years anyways

College should be free! Its a investment to a nation. The Scandinavian countries did it so why can't America do it? Taxes in the US are pretty high so why not pay a little more so people can go to college and doctor visit without stressing about the bills?

He went to dental school. Grad schools do not have any cap in the amount they can borrow for school and living expenses. Basically these people go to expensive private grad/ professional schools and have families. He started a family and did not have a spouse earning a livable salary. BTW, a top private undergraduate school is 70K a year. Not for four years.

And people honestly wonder why I didn't go to college. These million dollar student loan debts are hard as hell to pay back, even if you are a doctor or lawyer or CEO. I shudder to think how hard they are to pay back for those who won't come to close to a doctor's salary

If the education costs that much the schools are going to have to cut their nonfunctional fat. ea "studies" and the bulk of administration
