My guess is that it receives TTL signals from arduino and supplies motors with separate power than arduino is connected to.

So I understand from the shield is that it accepts the commands from the arduino ship and expands the voltage to drive the motors... is that what it does..? if so, I can't see the feeding wires for the shield.

Hi ı am trying to use arduino motor shield to control my 2 brass dc motor but when ı also connect the sensor to shield my sensor can not read good voltge it shows wrong 
but with out shield sensor is okey how can we deal with this problem
