India is in serious danger of overreacting to this Maldivian idiocy. It is clear that a large segment of the Maldives do not like India/Indians on a gut level and that is not going to change. The Indian reaction is going to harden their views. The very serious problem for India is that this ends up driving Maldives further into the Chinese orbit, and there ends up being a Chinese naval base there.
