Hearthstone - A Look into the Ipad versions Frame Rate (Uncapped)
Показать описание
A bit of background info:
Throughout my long time lurking on reddit I have found many people were wondering about the performance of the Ipad Version of Hearthstone. As a result I removed the 30 Fps cap (Note: Youtube only handles 30FPS video) and Added a framerate counter to see the frame rate I got. The main reason I recorded this now is Yosemite added the ability to record iPads/Phones very easily with a very small frame impact 3 -5 FPS.
Some very interesting result came out of this. Normally a Ipad air can produce a averaged frame rate of 50 - 60 (46...something when recording). But the amount of cards in play effect the frame rate dramatically. Interestingly there always seems to be a lower FPS on the opponents turn compared to your own and the FPS decrease throughout the game (Look at the beginning counters compared to later in the game). The Menus are also terribly unoptimised (unless the cap hadn't been removed correctly. The Main Menu has a low FPS of about 37 and so does the card collection. This is especially prevalent if you look at a gold card as the frame rate drops to below 30. Selecting a class and Searching for a game also tanks the frame rate for some reason. These Framedrops also seem to occur in the capped version (I will make another video if their is demand) so it is likely a optimisation issue.
However, overall my Ipad Air can manage a decent framerate around 60. With the New air on its way and better iPads been made all the time I believe Blizzard should add an option to uncap the frame rate. I noticed no significant effect on battery life however I generally keep my iPad charged.
Thanks for watching :)
