Ahh yes, Diablo II - a cult classic returns with revamped graphcis and the very same beloved gameplay. To ease our torment related to the expectation time Blizzard has released some offical footage which compares old and new graphics. I stcked them into one videofor easy look.

Amazon and Assassin character designs feel a bit off. But the graphics are undeniably really impressive

Paladin became more black, Assassin became asian, Amazon became more manly, Sorceress, Druid and Barbarian became much older, Necromancer looks more tired. Also a lot of them became more angry.

I hate to say this, but I like the old models more. My biggest gripes:

Barb was an awe-inspiring mountain of a man who, through constant fighting, weathering, and growth, showcased what the peak condition of the human body could be. - He's now a retired entertainment wrestler well beyond his prime.

Zon was the penultimate femme fatale; graceful and beautiful to behold, but none of that could suppress the amount of danger and deadly skill that she exuded. Witnessing her was like being a moth drawn to a flame. - She's now a butch wonder woman.

Paladin's shaved head gave this sense that he was a man wholly committed to his cause. All business, no play, and his business was spreading the good word of god through righteous demon/undead slaying. - He now looks like someone needed to make a statement about him being black.

Was it really necessary to make Assassin asian? I'm asian myself and I still felt this wasn't really needed, like some cheap retcon meant to pander to the eastern market. She always looked more like an ambiguous, pissed-off, brunette goth.

Druid is that hobo in the woods you stumbled on during that off-trail hiking trip one time.

The character remodels feel a lot less like they're HD upgrades ...as much as they are "Where are they now?" updates.

- Sorceress is not a dude yet, but she have done a jaw surgery already.
- Barb is a drunk bouncer.
- Paladin is a gospel singer.
- Druid is a hobo.
- Necromancer is a necromancer.

Why do the characters look like 20 years older? There was no need to make necro an old man, nor amazon needed the 50 yo warrior princess treatment..
