#silentfilms
Joseph Frank "Buster" Keaton was an American actor, comedian, film director, producer, screenwriter, and stunt performer. He was best known for his silent films, in which his trademark was physical comedy with a consistently stoic, deadpan expression, earning him the nickname "The Great Stone Face."
In 1999, the American Film Institute ranked him the 21st greatest male star of classic Hollywood cinema.
The films Keaton pay homage to his earlier work while exploring the possibilities of “Elmer,” his new comic persona.

I get to watch something made 100 years ago and it's better than anything I can find on TV nowadays.

My grandfather (born mid 1920’s) told me about going to the nickel and dime movie theaters as a child to see Buster Keaton shorts before they had installed sound. He said that the nickel theater would have a live piano, but the dime theaters had popcorn and an organ. I’d love to take in a movie like that in my lifetime.

I like how the quality from 100 y/o film is better than modern security cameras

"Wedding bells have such a sweet sound but such a sour echo" that's actually quite profound

The special effects in this are honestly more impressive than some of the movies I've seen recently. Like when was the last time you saw a life size spinning house that wasn't CGI. This is great.

Buster Keaton was breakin the fourth wall a century ago with his visual gags, now that's peak comedy.

The breaking of the “fourth wall” in the bathtub scene is just great. We need more of this nowadays. I’ll take the humor over the nudity any day.

It's a miracle that "young" Buster Keaton got through all the crazy dangerous stunts he did without getting killed. Probably no one would be allowed to do that today. I know he survived because I've seen the "old" Buster Keaton interviewed on TV. 😮

Watching this on Busters 124th birthday today. I am a huge fan of Buster Keaton; Charlie Chaplin may have been big at this time but in my opinion Buster Keaton was the true King of silent comedy.

I can't imagine how funny and interesting this film was for that time. I would love to see the faces of the people back than, looking at this film

I'd watched some silent movies before but this is my 1st Buster Keaton movie. I'd been recommended but I've finally watched it. Man oh man is he a genius.I love the creativity he & his team had to come up with & to make the movie enjoyable & some of the gags he managed to slipped in. Everything is simply wonderful!

I can't fathom that this was created 100 years ago. Truly amazing.

I've been in a depressed state for a while. So I decided to watch a good movie but there aren't any good new movies right now, so I came here. I like it!

I can't believe no stunt men or women were part of this. Real actors at that time.

22:49 - killed me. It's also a feeling of even more powerful admiration when I think this was made with resources and technology from a century ago! We literally watch history in motion. It's funny then you feel a little nostalgic, almost wanting to live in that far, far world, where everything was possible and people were walking around with their houses on their back. :D

Thanx so much for sharing!
Buster Keaton.
What a man.
He could do it all.
And did!
No CGI. No camera tricks.
What you saw was all Buster.
Wrote. Directed. Produced. Acted. Comedy. Drama. Composed, played, and sang. Conceived and executed stunts. Designed and built machines and props for gags.
The famous watertower torrent broke his neck! (Sherlock Jr. --- Buster didn't account for such water pressure And he didn't know he'd broken his neck 'til years later at a routine exam when his doctor told him so.)
And, oh, that well-known falling housefront bit! (Steamboat Bill Jr. --- He only had about a 2" clearance in that window.)
Quite impressive!
The Great Stone Face.
(Buster found out during his time in vaudeville with his parents, that if he laughed during a bit, the audience didn't, so he trained himself to keep a straight face all the time.)
The Greatest of All Time!
A really great guy.
The true Iron Man: broke most every bone in his body, and kept going.
And . . . He had pinpoint accuracy with a custard pie at 27 feet, even in his later years!
RIP, darling Buster, and thanx so very much for the magic, music, and memories.
(Yes. I absolutely adore Buster Keaton. For 70+ years now.)
