Sentience isn't a thing unto itself, sentience is an assigned quality.

Sentience is the recognition of consciousness is it animates an interface we associate with its personalization.

You recognize an 'other' in your environment to be 'like you' because it possesses the same interfaces as you do and because those interfaces behave in a way you associate with 'alive'.

It is your recognition of 'consciousness, localized' that collapses the Universal field into specificity - into an 'other' which is sentient or not.

It itself exists as potentiiality - as both sentient and not-sentient, simultaneously.
