When they say they only dance Cuban so you switch to Cuban and they can't dance that either.

When a lead says after a dance “well done”.

I'll be honest, Rasa. I very rarely ask instructors to ask, but it's not because I'm not intimidated. It's because I often feel like they might appreciate a bit of a rest. On my scene, people readily approach instructors and I've seen some instructors step out of the room a bit to catch their breaths. However, your perspective is very true. Instructors are humans, too, so I'll take that on board going forward.

I've lost count of the times I've been told " whatever you do I can follow. Oh I don't know the names of any of it, but I know every dance". Then when you're dancing with them and you say the name of the patterns in advance, count it out for them, watch them stumble or go the wrong way, or just do their own thing, way off time to the music, they tell you, " you know a lot of patterns that I've never seen before".
Less and less of us guys want to dance with them and they want to spend all their time and money learning a choreographed dance with one instructor, that they'll never use with anyone else! ( 3/4 of it is the male instructor showing off and she learned more of the basics!!)

Girl! You are spot on! I’m a female ballroom teacher of nearly 50 years! I’ve heard every one of the dancers’ tales of woe you mentioned more times than I care to think about!
Here are some of my favorites:
‘You’re leading!’ (When I’m following)
‘I’m taking the summer off’
‘There’s not enough men’(when there’s single men present at the dance’)
‘I’ll come to the dance, but not the lesson’
‘I (we) know enough (fill in the dance) so we’re discontinuing’
‘Are you teaching the basic (fill in the dance)? (I don’t know if they WANT basic, or DON’T want it because they think they don’t need it)
Sorry for rant…I have more also!
Let’s do a ‘things teachers LOVE to hear' some time to offset their
remarks!
Dance on Lady! From a fellow instructor in sunny Buffalo NY😊!

I hate it when people say ‘oh, have you not been dancing long’, when you are trying really hard and thought you was doing ok😢 totally destroys your confidence.

What annoys me is when people mention my height. I live in Asia, so I'm taller than the average woman out here. As a result, some people don't ask me to dance because they're scared of my height. It annoys me more when the person is the same height as me or just a little taller and still mentions it. This is why I respect shorter leads who approach me. I once danced with a man who's head came up to my chest. He was a great dancer and I loved his confidence.

Oh Rasa, how I love your channel and how you speak so openly!

I agree with the points you made here. I also think that we are also dealing with people, and at times our egos come out to play and challenge us 😅

Mindset plays such a huge factor when it comes to dancing, and navigating the waters of social parties and classes.

Keep up your content and I love your energy ❤

Ha Ha. I was at your Friday Class at el grande and I talked to you for your social media and you mentioned this channel. At the time I really wanted to ask you to dance but was too intimidated. I now know this was not a good decision on my part and will deffo ask you next time!! Carpe Diem!!

Please can you teach us how to distinguish styles of salsa and bachata music! No one seems to be able to put it into words for me 😩 but maybe you can play examples in your video - thank you!

I’m 172 cm tall and I almost never wear high heels. What bothers me the most on the dance floor is when leaders comments that I'm a challenge because of my height, as if it’s a problem I can change. It’s a remark I hear all too often, and it’s quite discouraging.

I would love to dance with you Rasa, I just don’t know where to find you. As a beginner/improver it’s often difficult to get a teacher to dance at my classes because they head off home when the social begins. 🤷🏽‍♀️

Men who constantly don’t look where they’re leading just checking out who’s looking at them instead of dancing for themselves and their partner and enjoying the moment of playfulness. Crashing into everyone when it’s not that busy even.

Females who started off really sweet and humble but maybe they’re a little bit pretty, and the guys blow soo much smoke up their ass that within 2 years their false ego literally won’t fit in the room and their ego is really fragile too just the worst combination which actual ability nowhere near matches up to this projected estimation of themselves.

Fully understand point 3, I was that intimated dancer. Let me explain: as a Beginner we fear bothering teachers. In my experience majority of teachers were not bored… be brave and invite teachers !

Followers comment on the first point: yep but not ANY classes. Pick ones where leader and follower technique get an equal amount of attention from the teachers.

Nice video after a nap 😅.
Yes, I'm intemidated inviting teachers... but still doing it anyway 😊

I was told: "you should have done this/that.. ok girl, one day maybe you will learn it", the leader was leading really bad (most of the time I had no clue what he´s trying to lead) and I was upper advanced which he didn´t notice (I was not showing off till this moment, after his comment I started :-D )
