I was looking at the DB25-D and then this shows up. Damn you Radioddity.

No detachable control head? What do we have to do to get these manufacturers to add detachable control heads.

Loving my 25. So small. I may get one of these later.

I followed the extended manual .. I also have 2 gd88s and they work great. Is there a hard reset I can do?

Maybe someone has figured it out, and can help, so on the GD88 there is a way to long press the arrow key and it will actually scan through the channels within the current zone, how is this done on the DB40-D? Ive tried the arrow keys on the speaker-mic but it doesnt seem to do it. Thanks in advance!

Can this radio listen and transmit to a new TalkGroup entered by buttons, or must new TGs be programmed by computer?

Looks good. Only time will tell if it’s reliable

Would it be possible to have you help me. I've tried the repeat function analog and digital. Just not happening. I just got this and worried I may have gotten a bad batch unit.

I've watched this video a few times trying to learn about the repeating functions of this radio- after buying it off of Amazon with some nice discounts making it too enticing to refuse any longer.

I also own a Retevis RT73 and the software is the same: useless. I can't even load the software on my computer, it doesn't do anything... but CPEditor works great.

I've followed your method to get cross-band repeater and cross-mode repeat working but am still strugging a bit to get the "single frequency repeater" option working amidst my other inexpensive Chinese radios. Any insight there for proper configuration of the DM40-D and/or interfacing radios?

Thank you for the video Ive been waiting for a review on this radio. It also has Same Frequency Repeater function could you please do a review of that?

Got mine back in Dec 2023, it has squelch problems, too much hysteresis, volume control level sucks, and in crossband mode, it stops working maybe after 10min's (it varies) and I have to shut it off then back on. It needs some kind of firmware upgrade.

A cross-band application might be for emcomm where the DB40 is at the car but I'm walking around with an HT. The HT on 440 band is repeated by the DB40 on 2M at high power. I have the Yaesu FTM-300 and its cross-band works for voice. However what I really want to do is cross-band Winlink Vara-FM. Unfortunately this fails, my guess: some latency in the repeating breaks Vara-FM's sync. If you care to fool with it this would be an interesting experiment to try with this DB40.

Great Video! Would you be able to do a future video on the Same Frequency Repeater (SFR)

I thought that radios that used the 12v plug couldn't go over 25 watts. Interesting.

Excellent Video. I appreciate you demoing the crossband repeat. I have the GD-88 as well and I will agree that until they get this unit on the 3rd party software, I will have to pass for now. I spent too much time building it, and would love to just open and download into this unit. It's on my radar. Maybe Radioddity will monitor your channel feedback. 73, KN4VA

I think that it would be a good idea to stay away from Aviation frequencies for the FAA and FCC would be down on you like a tonne of bricks.

The biggest problem with any DMR radio is that if you only use either a linux or mac computer, you are totally stuffed in terms of comprehensively programming the radio.
