Melting aluminium cans on a normal gas stove at home may damage it if you try too hard

I should probably get a "sacrificial" cooker for further experiments. Even if it does not destroy the stove it may make it look pretty bad afterwards. From what I measured it seems to be made for temperatures around 500°C and nearly 200°C more may not kill it but definitely leave permanent marks.
