I've been street riding for over 30 years now, so have a good understanding of body mechanics and bike dynamic from that standpoint. But I am a complete neophyte when it comes to off road riding. I chose the TW200 to start learning how to ride dirt because of the seat height and low power. It's user friendly from the standpoint that it's very forgiving, will tractor up anything i ask it to climb, and is still light enough for me (50+ years, 5'4" tall woman) to lift when it's inevitably dropped. LOL. Maybe some day I'll graduate to a more powerful and fast bike? Not sure because I'm just loving the slow ride along unpaved roads.

When I took my MSF course, I was eying up the TW200 being the first time seeing a big tire dual sport, and thinking it would fit me better. I ended up on a Suzuki TU250, and eventually a Kawasaki KLX 250. Something about that bike and those fat tires just screams "Give me dirt" and this video is a good testament to that.

great video boys

Damn Tubers just need to get to the freaking point already.... Just land the freaking plane already. Good luck on future endeavours.

I learned to ride on a Suzuki 100 enduro (dual sport), which was easy, when I was 13. But I didn't put many hours into riding, so, before I bought my Harley Sportster 750 cruiser, I took a motorcycle riding course, which I'd urge every new rider to take - and that course was with a TT 200, which is a TW 200 identical twin. It felt super-easy and perfectly natural. That was on pavement, however. All bikes are hard to handle on sand, especially if you're a new rider. I'd still highly recommend a TW 200 for beginners, but some people might be more comfortable learning on a different bike. A TTR 125 would also be a great choice, but it's a dirt bike (four stroke), and not street legal. Try out a couple of different bikes before you buy, would be the best idea. Just don't buy a sports bike or a touring bike if you are a new rider, or any dirt bike with more than 125 ccs! Stay safe. Be cautious and stay alive to ride for years. Learn gradually, and slowly increase the power, if you want to.

I just bought a used 2000 model with over 10k miles on it. Haven't had a chance to ride it yet due to the ice and snow, but I plan to make it my camping/trail riding bike. My daily commuter is a KTM 390 Adventure. It's a great bike on the hard pack and getting to the location, but I was looking for a second bike to blaze my own trails. Great thoughts and video!

For sure thinner tires equates to maneuverability

I ordered a tw after my dad just got one. I always hated tw's I thought they "sucked" etc i had all the mx bikes and street bikes and super motos but when I actually took my dads out for a relaxing ride in the trails and backroads i was like "holy cow i like it" it s good for what it is and likethat hill climb clip I'll tell you right now my drz400 would never make it up that without committing 100% and rip it. Where the tw just chugs up not even spinning the rear tire. That's impressive as hell. But i gotta say the tw is not easy on the trails. It's got a weird geometry than most dirtbikes. I noticed right away. The front tire floats around hard to keep it straight almost feels like understeer. So i found myself all over the doublewide trail not really a problem at all when you're in the right speed. But if you're going too fast you're gunna washout or bounce off track or into a rock you're trying to avoid. Allin all it's made to trek slow and its great at it. Don't expect to rip trails like a ktm enduro or something

Every dealer in my state is out of Tdubs.
Can anyone give me a ballpark total if I ordered one from a dealer?
Ive been wanting one for a while. I'm looking for used also but there is nothing within a 300 Mile radius atm. It's frustrating...

Anyone?

31.1" seat height. I might disagree with you on this one! 🤣
