Logitech MX Ergo Trackball vs MX Vertical Ergonomic Mouse - Comparison Review - Best Ergonomic Mice of 2019 - 2024?

Hey guys this is my FIRST time reviewing something like this, I really hope I explained it well and wasn't too biased, the ergo just worked a lot better for me, the vertical is definitely comfortable as well compared to a traditional mouse! Show the video some LOVE and comment below! :)

Thanks for reviewing these both together. Though they're both pricey, some people may need both of these (particularly pro designers). One is great for design (MX Vertical), the other is better for things that require less hand movement that can be facilitated by a trackball (the Ergo). A pro might need both if they want to prevent pain in their hand, wrist, and arm. At least I've found that to be the case for me after researching these two over the last few days. I feel they're both different experiences.

I'm a designer, so I'm at my desktop designing most of the time, moving and dragging pixels across the screen. I don't like Waycom tablets because they're not practical for much other than illustration. I prefer a mouse that allows me to move and mimic drawing when needed (icons, illustrations, photo compositing, painting, etc). But on the other hand, if Im just browsing the web and don't need to mimic drawing gestures and just need to type (cursor adjustments, highlighting text) I'm using the Ergo with the trackball so that my hand and wrist don't move (mostly use the Ergo at home). BOTH save my hand/wrist from strain.

Also, what I find as an advantage for trackballs in an office setting is that you can actually place it between yourself and the keyboard, giving a more natural position for your shoulder ... but again, I'm one of those crazy people using an ergonomic keyboard....

I've been using a trackball of the same form-factor for a good few years and it doesn't help the pain, just moves it somewhere else. Notably, right at the base of the thumb where it connects to the wrist. It's not any less impact than playing with a game controller for hours straight. Tips of the fingers start to go numb too after clicking a good bit, especially clicking the mmb.

I am a graphic designer by profession. This video and a bunch of other articles and whatnot on the web helped me with my decision in ordering the MX Ergo Trackball. Thanks, mate!

You can scroll side-ways by pressing Shift+scroll wheel. Try it in a spreadsheet or web page.

I got the Logitech MX Vertical mouse too, I think a better way to hold it is to let your pinky finger (and the under side of your palm) rest on the desk, use your pinky as a ground support and move your mouse with other fingers, you will have much better time controlling it this way. ( as oppose to grabbing the entire mouse with your hand at 3:15)

I found the MX Vertical mouse very comfortable, if know how to adjust your body to make the best use of this design ~

I've been using the MX Vertical Mouse for almost 4 months now and definitely agree with:
1. Battery life great - this is nice for anyone who is a graphic designer or does architecture works like me for a long period of hours in a day AND who don't pay attention too much on charging it
2. Wrist Issue - it helped me a lot to reduce the pain I had on my wrist but I'd say it's not just about the mouse that you use. If you're like me who sits in front of a computer for a long period of time it's the proper exercise that will help you.
3. It feels cheap and hollow on my hand but it is very comfortable and it made me more productive with my work.

Other than that, Great review Mike Wat!

After some time, you'll be so quick and precise with the trackball you'll be gaming and graphic designing with it like a pro. It's definitely a thing.

Great review. I bought the MX ergo and fell in love with it. Can't see myself going back to a sensore mouse any time soon.

YO! I totally didn't know my completely different mouse had a side scroll button. Excel will never be the same.... Mind blown.

Been using the MX Ergo for the past 2 months. Really loving it. It took a good 2-3 weeks for me to personally get used to it, but boy.... it's something.

I've used trackballs since around 1990 (granps talking). They used to be pretty horrible. The MX Ergo is by far, far, the best trackball I've EVER used. Its predecessor (M570) wasn't bad (and more hackable) but the programmability adds a new layer of functionality that makes my life much easier. And the comfort is just awesome.

I purchased the MX Vertical after buying a lot of chinese and perixx vertical mouses, and now i know what is really a true vertical mouse with the MX Vertical, I simply love it! For me, MX Vertical is the best vertical mouse ever made.

I think you are wrong with what you say about the pinky finger, is not supported because you need it as every other mouse to raise up the whole mouse when you reach the limits of your mat. I hate all the other vertical mouse that have a thing to rest your pinky finger, you cant raise up the mouse without doing extreme force, and even sometimes the mouse falls to the mat as a rock.

So I want to tell you guys a couple of things about this fabulous ergo mx thing.
I think I've been using it for like maybe 16 hours ( not in a row, ofc. It was 3 or 4 sessions, I believe) and I'm ready with my second inmpression.
First of all, it's big and for me, personally, it turns each and every scroll wheel spin into a little painful wrist bending. Not good. I also have to stretch my thumb a bit to control the ball.
Buttons are hard to reach and pretty tight (more that enough for sure, especially if you want that hold an additional button and get a free scroll functionality. Had to use 3rd paty software to get toggle an additional button to vector scroll, as holding it was tight)
Rubber body makes hand sweaty and sticky a bit, affects position swiching.
My conclusion would be that this device is good, but nothing that big there. Not satisfied. Thinking abaout retutrning it.
And yes, that logi software to me was buggy af.
Hope you'll be more lucky than I with this one.

Love that people are reviewing ergo mice! I'm so excited to see a new trackball as I need minimal movement of my wrist to keep my carpal tunnel from flaring. Definitely putting the mx ergo plus on my to buy list

You can use the ERGO mouse wired, mini USB supports data transfer, just make sure you are using the right cable. I've lost the receiver of my G700s ages ago and to this day I use it wired. The down side is Logitech's software doesn't detect it, so you can't customise it.

Thanks, Mike.
When you select part of the screen for capture on a Mac, holding the space bar will let you adjust the upper left corner of the selection.
