Jodi’s books are amazingly complex and intriguing. Her characters are very layered and people get really engaged in the books. Jodi also continues to surprise us with plot twists. It’s fun to go through and see the Easter eggs Jodi includes (like StarvTrek, Scooby Doo, Terry Pratchett, etc., etc.)
And be sure not to read just the Chronicles but also the Time Police series. So much fun!

Although this is a year old, its the first review I have seen of the Chronicles of St Mary’s. The books continue to be published, so we cant be the only readers. Guess we readers need to take up the task and start spreading the word.
I have been reading this series since 2015, and agree with everything you have said about the multi genre approach. There is one more genre, i think: the dystopian society. While it is not highlighted in every book, the series begins in the aftermath of a civil war and we continue to see the aftermath throughout the stories. But you gave such a thorough and well organized review. So much appreciated.

I love this series, and find myself rereading favorite bits (usually whole novels) frequently. It definitely deserves a wider readership!

I love that I've found another American who loves this laugh-out-loud series (but a series that also has warmth and some pathos). One of the best ones out there and I have each new book pre-ordered as it becomes available. I also thank you regarding the audio books - this is a series I have both as an e-book collection and an audiobook collection. I usually read it first, then listen to the audiobook. It's a series I also re-read. I love the Time Police, too. Same humor. Thanks for covering this series!

The Chronicles of St. Marys is one of my favorite book series, and I have re-read them multiple times. The combination of interesting historical stories combined with the wonderful characters makes them so much fun. Even though each book covers different historical events, there's an over-arching story which plays out across all of the books. As you said in your review, there's time travel, history and romance combined in the books. The books are also an emotional roller coaster. I go from laughing out loud to sobbing. Jodi isn't afraid to kill off a character which means you can never really be sure what will happen. Re-reads are fun because you know what's going to happen so you can focus on other aspects like the writing, word play, humor, historical information, etc. Love them! And I recommend them anyone who will listen to me.

So glad to find this video when I was trying to convince my husband that he would like this series! I have them all on Audible, and love going back and relisten through them. Every time I find something else to enjoy, so I get to experience the true joy of reading each book at least twice or three times :D

The reason I say that is this, our founder Marietta Winfrey had a special birthday and I thought it would be a good idea to mark this occasion by having the (virtual) Taylor Winfrey Halls of Residence officially opened ( ribbon cutting) by Jodi herself . . Not only did Jodi agree to this she also wrote one of her famous “short stories” to describe the days events . It is worth joining this group just for that alone . I ADORE The Chronicles of St Mary's! I'm fully invested in the cast of characters and the humour is right up my street. I've listened to all of Jodi's books and short stories at least a couple of times. Zara Ramm is incredible. A must read/listen. Thanks for this video, it's about time more people knew about COSM.

Finally somebody is talking about this series. I love it so much, I love it so much that after reading the first couple of books in Hungarian (I'm Hungarian) I had to continue them in English because I can't wait for the translation. And it just get's better and better with every book.

I read One Damned Thing After Another and really enjoyed it. Already am halfway through A Symphony of Echoes and probably gonna buy the rest of the series. Really easy reads.

You need to look at the various Facebook groups about Jodi Taylor (author); there are a couple of main groups, a spoiler group where you can discuss the latest book or short story without offending anybody, and I believe even a virtual St Mary's, although I don't go there.

When you see those book blurbs that say "hysterically funny" etc., they are almost always a case of your mileage will vary. I don't equate Jodi Taylor to Douglas Adams, but her St. Mary's stories are full of the kind of English humor that is character and situation based. (She's more like Connie Willis and the Oxford Time Traveling stories than Hitchhiker.) One of the amazing things about a 14+ series is how the story/character arcs don't get retreaded and old. The Time Police series that follows Max's son is also very good. Really highly recommended series!
