We all heard the story of a lovely Persephone, torn away from the abundant bosom of beauty and light, and pulled down into the barren vastness of eternal darkness by a merciless hand of Hades, the Lord of the Underworld. The opposite worlds collided, the land of the living was plunged into severe winters, and the dark kingdom expanded its domain. The balance was broken, and the bargain was struck.

However, I can’t shake the feeling that there’s more to the story. Maybe there was no kidnapping, but in fact the lovers eloped, knowing that nobody would support Persephone’s choice? Maybe she saw the side of him that nobody else did?
