I see I’m not the only one to comment on how good your masonry work looks in spite of your saying you don’t necessarily enjoy it. Well, the love you have for your home shows through in the dedication to correcting the mistakes of former owners. That wall is looking amazing! You can really see the difference in the areas you’ve cleaned up with that needle scaler. Thanks as always for taking g us in this wonderful journey with you. Take care.

Just a suggestion, it would be nice, at the start of a season, to show the entire floor as it was, and how it has progressed, to give to viewer a feeling of how much has been accomplished as this has been so great!

That void was maybe a clean out for the fireplace. Would’ve had a metal access door. Our basements are a lot alike and most of ours are still intact and looks a lot like this. But lookin good.

You have made wonderful progress on that wall! I would imagine that area might have been for the coal storage which would “leave its mark” on the foundation. Every step you take is one more closer to you having achieved your aim of restoring this historic home. My first thought was is was an basement oven for bread baking. The coal chute behind next to it most likely explains the black stone. You've done an incredible job. You're so patient!!!
