Lyrics by Marina Tsvetaeva
Lyrics (English Translation):
A fierce old woman once told me,
Crooked of hurt like a rocker:
“You shall not dream peacefully in a cradle,
You shall not blanch your woven yarn,
Shall you beg under the fences,
Shall you kiss a raven.
I am pale as a cloud,
Bring out the white gown!
Do not chase away the black foal,
Do not muzz the holy father,
Put me under the apple tree
With no prayer, no frankincense.
Bless you for guidance and for your royal kindness,
For your empty pockets and your cautious singing,
For the shame along with distemper,
For your fierce love.
As the church bell rings,
Demons will drag me away.
I once told you as we feasted,
I’ll say to God one last time:
That I loved you, my sweet boy,
Better than Glory and better than Sun.”
Thanks for watching!
