I don't speak a word of Korean, I just wanted to do an Alien Stage cover. Black Sorrow was the one song my brother didn't come out of his room to shut me up for, so, here are my two kinda successful attempts. (Hyuna's All-in was just too powerful for my voice type and vocal confidence, so that was set aside. 🐟 Ruler of My Heart was a close one, but it's comparatively wordy and........ moany? ...for my beginner mouth? Idk, man, it's the most popular song with the fan favorite Luka, I can't just casually fk that up like I'm a hitchhiking parrot)

I don't usually like singing in a high pitch, though. I think I sound like a child. My vocal coach 6 years ago asked me to quit it, too, but I just couldn't cuz "sounding like a child" is what helps me reach higher notes. Therefore, it doesn't sound "rich" and "powerful" at all. So, because I was bothered by my own voice, I added a filter on my Mizi version to make it seem like you're overhearing me practice at an abandoned church after the rain. :3 Flattering enough. Doesn't make me wince as much.

[Story behind the art above]

I was practising Black Sorrow in front of a friend's parents' shop one night. It had been raining a little, but at least there was a make-shift roof above my head. I watched cars and people passing by, then I noticed this kid carrying a plastic bag with, what looked like, a ton of food in rationed "meal paper boxes" inside. He was a heavy lil dude, and he looked like he was STRUGGLING. Straight up tears in his eyes when he set the bag down on a random motorcycle seat, laying his head to have a breather while I sang, "So black, black as it can be!"

It didn't help that I was just standing there, singing a ballad some 8 feet away from him, while dude was probably fighting demons in his head. My brain split between checking up on the kid and convincing myself it was a canon event.

He eventually walked on with the plastic bag over his shoulders just when I finished singing, so I had to tell my friend who was working in the shop, "Dude, there was this kid!!"

And then we got matching henna tattoos.
