INSIDE OUT 2 Had The PERFECT Chance To Reveal Riley is QUEER.... #shorts

Inside Out 2 got fans buzzing about representation, but left many feeling frustrated with Pixar's lack thereof. Some eagle-eyed viewers spotted what they thought might be potential moments in the movie's trailer. Inside Out 2 had the perfect setup to reveal Riley's queer identity. When Riley meets the all-star hockey player Valentina "Val" Ortiz, her reactions seem like those of a teenager with a crush. Whether it's just platonic panic or perhaps panic, Riley's blushing and awkwardness around Val got people wondering if she might realize her queerness in the film. But alas, those hoping for an openly queer Pixar protagonist were let down. Inside Out 2, while still a joy to watch, doesn't break Pixar's streak of underwhelming representation, as seen in previous films. While the movie beautifully captures the complexities of adolescence and teenage friendships, it missed a golden opportunity to significantly boost Pixar's representation.

Not everyone needs to be gay!!! It's a movie for kids!!! Don't give her a boyfriend, don't give her a girlfriend, just let her be a teenager!!!

That is not gay behaviour. She was just excited to meet someone she knew who was popular. Also I really like Val's hair. Not in a gay way 🙄

You need to stop. They didn’t make Riley gay. Accept that. It’s fine

alright bro it’s kinda getting old that you’re dragging this queer stuff on

Honestly as a queer person, I really don’t give a damm that there’s no representation in this movie. It’s nice to see it in shows and movies, yeah, but there’s no necessity for it. I think this movie was great all on its own!

I think the obsession with a 13 year olds sexual identity is weird.

Okay, I am so glad they did not go in the direction you described. What we saw in the film was a thirteen year old girl meeting her icon and attempting to live up to the expectations of high school and develop friendships with people that might actually be able to help her in a different environment. It was just her trying to fit in with the cool kids, something kids try to do all the time. I loved the way they approached it, showing that trying to fit in and can lead to extreme social anxiety.

Look any kind of representation is great but all honesty in my opinion. The best way to honor and respect people who are LGBTQ and such are to be happy for them but not gas them up 24/7. The #1 thing people in that community want is to be treated like normal citizens like they’re an average sight not like some rare miracle because that could make them feel like their numbers are small. They deserve love and respect like anyone else does and I believe the best way to honor them is to smile and let them live their lives as we all live our own lives not to put them on display for everyone and make them feel like they’re mandatory for something to be successful or put on display to show “we’re inclusive So you have to like us or you hate the community!”

Its crazy how grown adults. Want to see sexual orientation explored in a kids movie.

He makes me uncomfortable when he talks about a 13-year-old girl's sexuality.

Good. Not everything needs to be about sexuality. This is a perfect opportunity to tell a story about adoration and idols that have nothing to do with romance

Why do people feel the need to have representation in media so bad? I just want to enjoy well written stories.

I’d bring up the short film where Riley went on a date with a boy, but that reasoning wouldn’t work, because “sHe wAs sTiLL eXpLoRinG hEr iDenTiTy.”

They did the right thing. Stop trying to put us on a story that works perfectly fine without us. We don’t always need the spotlight. Especially in what is a kids movie

This guy has been spreading false rumors about this movie since IT WAS ANNOUNCED THEY WERE MAKING IT!!!” (ALSO SHES “blushing” AND “nervous” BECAUSE SHE HAS ANXIETY)

The did a short called Riley’s First Date already and it was with a boy. The already established that she is heterosexual.
