That dude was like : "No, I'm not a pedophile but I am a murderer"

Being accused of being a pedophile is one of the worst things you can accuse someone of

That "dead body inside" gave me chills
Imagine having to live with a dead body waiting for rescue

Theo said that "One time he threw a fur coat in the yard and all the neighborhood dogs would come and try to f*** it." "Crazy man."

“Dead body inside”

I can’t even imagine the trauma….

When you adopt a pet, you sign an oath to take care of the pet until the end of its life. While I do understand shelters not allowing pets, there still should have multiple resources for people who have pets.

I’m a survivor of Hurricane Katrina. It wasn’t the pets that kept us in the city. It was lack of transportation. Regular cars couldn’t make it past the water line in certain areas. My neighborhood flooded first, then the lights went out at night. We couldn’t see our hands infront of our faces because there were no street lights. The Gators were full but still a threat. The vehicle that we secured became too heavy with the weight of the rescued citizens so we had to make the choice to throw some people off so it could make it up and over the bridge but upon the descent of the bridge the truck stopped again because the water was too deep. We hopped off the truck and tried wading and making the swim to midtown but the red ants were flooded out too and they were floating in clumps and biting and crawling on any person that they could use as a floatation device. In some buildings and places the water was just too high and too contaminated with dead bodies so many people climbed into their roofs to wait until help arrived. The problem was that help arrived too many days later for most of our elderly. Convicts escaped from the local jail houses, pretending to be normal people that needed help but they still had that jailhouse mentality so they took a few kids that were unattended did what they will with them (graped and offed them) and hoarded food, water and clothing. By the time we made it to the evacuation space of the super dome and convention center things were dire. We were loaded up into busses about 7 days later for the ones of us that were fortuitous enough to survive the walk, run, swim to the safe zone.

Trigger:
About 3 days into my journey I looked over a bridge and watched as several people drowned. One man died of pure exhaustion as he screamed “help!”. At that moment I stood on the edge of the bridge tired, exhausted and carrying my younger brother on my back as my older sister carried our younger sister on her neck and contemplated jumping. My sister walked up to me, slapped me across the face and asked me if this is how I wanted to go? I cried but climbed down and kept going but our nightmare was far from over.

It wasn’t pets that kept us from leaving it was the lack of preparedness of our state and government leaders. A category 5 hurricane hits New Orleans every 140 years, no one knew that Hurricane Katrina would be that one so everyone took it for granted. By the times plans were made for rescue efforts it was already too late. The water had risen while we all slept. We woke up to a disaster.

If my neighbor accused me of being a pedophile, I might beat them to death.
That's an awful accusation without proof.

The pet situation was terrible and cruel in Katrina.
I still remember seeing a young girl with a small white dog in her arms. She was attempting to board a bus to a safer area and she was told she couldn’t bring the dog on the bus. She was crying and pleading to allow her to bring her small dog on her lap. They refused her. She finally put the dog down on the side of the road and entered the bus, heartbroken. I’ll never forget it. I believe they were reunited. A kind person found the dog and kept it safe.
They changed that, you can bring your pets in emergencies like that now.
I wasn’t there. Somebody had filmed it. It was on the news.

During Katrina my mom and brother had a moving company. We raised money and stocked every truck with water, food, including pet food and sanitary supplies and donation money. We planned on bringing back anyone who wanted to come and making a few trips back and forth from Florida with whatever they needed.

The Lake Pontchartrain Causeway, the main bridge leading into New Orleans was blocked by military. They were armed and they wouldn’t let anyone in, no matter what for. Meanwhile, people inside the city were doing without clean water and basic needs. My family and volunteers set in traffic for hours, after driving through the night. They tried to find other ways in.

The guards weren’t even letting people leave. They refused to let people come and just take whatever they needed. They refused to have anyone carry it in to them. They refused to let them just leave with us.

I had just left New Orleans when the hurricane came. I was lucky to have a place to go and a way to get there. In NOLA I had friends and family- Literally everyone I had known there who didn’t - couldn’t just leave. What the government did was absolutely criminal.
President Bush was criminal.

We took our pets during any hurricane in South Carolina. I specifically remember giving our dog bottled water in the back seat cause there was no ac.

You're not telling me what I do with my family. We love our dogs. RIP Molly. She was a sweetheart. Had a litter of ten puppies later. Golden Retriever.
Hurricane Bertha.

I understand that people would want to save their pets. They’re not just pets, they’re family. Rip to all the victims and condolences to the families and friends to them ❤

I believe both Theo's father and older brother were named Roland. The elder Roland, Theo's father died of cancer in 1996 while his older brother, also named Roland, died in a gun accident in 2019.

as crazy as it sounds I can understand why some ppl would take their chances knowing deserting their pets meant their animals drowning to death. I mean rly imagine how hard that would be to make that decision, especially if they were all u had
