Funny how the most populated country on the planet has an entire ghost city.

Those who were murdered under the 1 Child Rule live here. A true Ghost City. Very big of Xi to honor them this way. Costly but sentimental.

It’s so sad. I love Chinese culture. My Godparents are from Hong Kong, and with a single mum as a kid, I was looked after by them so much that me their kids called each other cousins.

But Xi is really hampering China. The man has essentially become an emperor, you have people worshiping shrines where he once stood.

He banned a children’s character because someone made a joke about him. He treats his people like they’re incapable of making any decisions, and need to be protected from empty threats.

The man is a tyrant, and the fact people don’t accept he’s essentially an emperor at his point astounded me.

He built his China on sand, and eventually the average person is gonna start suffering more than they already are for it.

I’m not taking about communism, capitalism etc (that’s above my pay grade), the route Xi is taking isn’t communism, and it’s certainly not China 1st. It’s him, and what HE DEEMS appropriate 1st, everyone else, even the people, can get stuffed.

They should use it as a filming location instead of using actual cities.

It's always ordinary people who suffer when a megalomaniac gets a bit of power.

He will divert floods from certain villages then force them to take refuge in Xiong'an

In my time of Cities Skylines, you can't just build a whole zone exactly the way you want it and expect people to magically use it. Instead, you grow each suburb and district naturally over time.

It's kind of a minor thing in the long run, but consider what was there before this big, empty construction project ripped it up. Might have been hills, forest, may have been farmland. All of that gone for this monstrosity.

Malaysia also has a chinese built ghost city called Forest City in the state of Johor developed by Country Garden.

Built for rich expat mainlander chinese, by mainlander chinese. It's too expensive for local Malaysians.

I think I flew past that city on my way to Japan. It was scary, row after row of nearly identical buildings. I stared out the window and wondered what poor people lived there… fascinating and disturbing at once.

Hi David, been watching your content for a little over a month now and I wanted to say thank you for your continued work on the matter. I, like many other people, had no idea just how bad things were over in China. Although everyday working class people like me cannot do much about it, it’s good to be informed and have reliable news sources.

In the U.S all of those buildings would be privately owned by investor groups/corporations and they would intentionally be left empty in order to increase housing scarcity which increases rental and property prices. It's a racket.

At least the USSR had people to fill it’s show cities
