On Example 2 Question C. I understand that y= 1/2x^2 and I understand that we have to input it for the value of y^2 in the Descartes Equation. However, I don't understand why it turns into the (1/2x^2)^3. Where does the ^3 come from?

On problem 5(b) where did that square root x in the numerator come from at the end (final problem: square root x / x(1+x) +arctan)
