Israel has unveiled its latest artillery system, the Roem. This state-of-the-art system had its first operational firing in June and is slated for deployment with an Israel Defense Forces (IDF) unit in the coming year.

The Roem system marks a significant advancement in artillery technology for the IDF. Spearheaded by the Defense Ministry and developed by Elbit Systems, the Roem is one of Israel’s premier security projects. While the specifics of its internal components are classified, the system is anticipated to greatly enhance the capabilities of Israel’s artillery units.

Once deployed, the Roem will be integrated into the 282nd Artillery Brigade, part of the 36th Division.
The system will slowly replace M109, with both systems operating concurrently for some time.

In this video, Defense Updates analyzes why Israel’s enemies should fear Roem artillery?

The slogan could be "Roem, if you want to".
Sadly, no one remembers that song.

Ukraine shown the need for artillery to be highly mobile but fast and accurate
The Roem design is good but it does need counter UAS defenses as well

You pronounce the Roem incorrectly. Its "roEm", you stress the second syllable. Like the island Guam. Like the word Hotel.

This looks a lot like the IDFs version of the Swedish "Archer" System which is in service for 10 years already.

why are you making artillery for them when they made better weapons?

I'm sorry but Israel is just catching up with the rest of the advanced wheeled artillery systems. Archer has already demonstrated its value in Ukraine, and KNDS' RCH-155 doesn't require extendable stabilizers so as not to tip over while firing, thus reducing the overall fire-cycle. And it can fire while in transit.

The above being said, I hope Roem will turn out to be a great addition to the IDF arsenal to further sharpen its defense aegis.

It will take a while until the ROEM will be operational. There are some issues need to be solved, before the first battery will be delivered to the 405th Battalion. and BTW, Lt.-Col. Eitan Gillis is no longer the commander of the 405th Battalion since a week ago.
