He’s alive if you go back to the start of chapter 2 after getting passed the snail you will see that he is no longer there.

Jumbo josh is large, so i don't think he'll get squashed easily.I think he was unconcious from falling, then he wakes up when you leave the elevator...

There ARE multiple jumbo joshes, there's a secret QR code right before you see jumbo josh at the end, and it shows an invitation for you whit multiple multi-coloured jumbo joshes, also known as his SIBLINGS

Actually here is my theory :
Josh is made of Givanium, Clay and Archaeocypris . So while you were in the comms sector finishing the maintenance puzzle, Doctors found clay in the testing sector and it was green . So the doctors put Archaeocypris and Givanium donors in the clay, resulting in an absolute monster . They even found Stinger Flynn when they gone down the Slow Seline elevator and took his givanium, because they knew Josh would be incomplete without Stinger Flynn's givanium on his fist . Before Banbaleena died, A doctor found some more givanium, clay and Archaeocypris and used it to revive Flynn . They put him in the aquatic sector before all the doors closed

Jumbo Josh is actually not dead, before you got to the third and final section, you can go back to where you start and you see a green trail and Jumbo Josh is not there anymore.

In chapter 2, yes, the elevator fell on him
BUT
if you return to that place later in the game, there’s a pink trail and he’s gone
Later in chapter 2,
There’s also multiple doors that open that lead to ALL the monsters, including bambaleena and JUMBO JOSH.
Go through bambaleenas path and jumbo josh will try to attack you but accidently squish bambaleena.
So,
Jumbo josh IS NOT DEAD.

He survived. Because in Garten of Banban 2 he dissapeared from under the elevator after the begining of chapter 2. Simply search on youtube, ,Jumbo Joss all scenes". Watch the video to observe he's NOT dead. Oh, and also at the Banbaleena chase scene Jumbo Joss apeears ALIVE and off her. (or kidnap? I'm not so sure)

when the elevator crashed jumbo josh did survived as you can see he’s made out of some like rubbery stone and the crash didn’t effect him he was fainted on the ground in chapter two

Well idk if this was a hint or mistake BUT
In the beginning of chapter 2 when you see Jumbo Josh’s lifeless body he is quite small, but when you see him in the chase scene he is quite large
