Telling this story but completely ignoring the role of the US led coalition in the demise of Libya is very misleading. Makes us look great, though. Do better, Andrew.

Title is misleading it’s the US preoccupation with war that left Lybia in the way IT IS NOW

I'd have more respect for the CBC if they had not left out of their account Canada's sizable role in the NATO attack on Libya, and that attack's responsibility for the political instability that followed, correctly identified as probably the major reason for the lack of maintenance on the dams that failed and caused this catastrophe.

NATO's destruction of Libya left it in a endless cycle of violence that is hampering it's ability to deal with the catastrophic flooding. There I fixed it.

The cheek of CBC news to call it Libya's preoccupation, disgusting

Libya was the most success African nation until the US destroyed it for not follow orders. It has nothing to do with a preoccupation with war.

Libya can "thank" NATO for all it's troubles.

Who de-stabilized Libya by promoting regime change, resulting in a civil war?

Imagine saying something like Canada's preoccupation caused some disaster ...It's very tragic use of putting salt on wounds. Many know that it's more than Libyans responsible for the civil war. At a time of calamity only enemies rejoice.

This is the work of NATO the "defensive" alliance.

The west bombs Libya to ruins, then asks if their preoccupation with war left them venerable 😂

Gaddafi was not a dictator and Libya is not "preoccupied with war." We are preoccupied with war and we not only removed one of the most popular and beloved leaders in Africa, but destroyed the country's infrastructure including the "Great Manmade River, " one of the greatest engineering feats on the continent, and set about supporting warring factions to ensure the country remained a failed state for decades to come.

This is pure propaganda. You should be ashamed of yourselves.

I'd say preoccupation with war and over support for the rich. Sounds like america, where whole towns burn to the ground, and the government doesn't step up spending for enough planes to snuff out any fire before it can consume a town. Great reporting, though you might want to hold the american government accountable despite if it's also being run by your beloved party of choice.

Calling it "Lybia's preoccupation with war" is the most disgusting thing I have ever seen in a long while, WE the NATO states are the ones who bombed that poor country!

This is a climate change denial video holy...

Libya has been abused by external powers, and in no way was in a position to handle this climate change related storm.

Do you make videos about the neglect of provinces in canada to have good fire management and forestry policies?

No, when forest fires rage across Canada and destroy hundreds of homes and cost billions in damage, you focus on the climate change

This video is a shameful way to frame the issue

Awful

The land or country we are fighting over is being swept away in the flood, so what do we do now, O people of the flesh?
