It sounds like Shawna wants to see the good in everybody and is latching on to "hormonal" being the reason for her behaviour, even though it doesn't add up.

Ty being hesitant to introduce Shawna, Ty being enthusiastic about introducing Jennifer (my guess is a pregnant woman is less of a "threat" to her), wife being super enthusiastic talking to men but not women, Ty not being able to explain the reason behind her behaviour even though she's his wife and it's not their first kid.

Calling it now, it's not hormones and if it is then I'll be pleasantly surprised.
