Be prepared to get paid in chips. A fun job out of high school but not so much after

As a bicycle mechanic myself, I agree that 💪🏻😎🔝

I wouldn't recommend anyone drop out of college to pursue a career as a bicycle mechanic unless they have a serious criminal record

Interesting field. Is the pay enough to provide a good lifestyle? I reckon it might be a good job to pay for college tuition but as a career, I reckon it would be a struggle.

It would be cool but why train for two years for a minimum wage (or not much better) job? Maybe as bikes get more tech heavy it will become a valid career, but it isn’t now

Jesus. 2 years to get a 60k job at the most? Welding program only takes 1 year and entry is 60k

What’s the question? I glimpsed it for 1/1000th of a second

Perfect video. I love that you made this. Like any bike race - the people who stay and make it in our Trade must be committed and they WILL be successful! It's the most beautiful trade. Thank you, as one mechanic to another. Respect. It's a thing you can't explain to those not in it... similar to cooks or construction workers. It's a feeling that is like a spirit with you when you're at the bench helping people ride. bike mechanics gave us the airplane. So....ya know. You're welcome

Breh I just watched youtube and built my bike and serviced it. A guy asked how I learned so fast and I'm like dude I wrench on my truck too. If it weren't my only vehicle, I would be diving into the engine bay and doing literally every fix myself. Once you know the terminology and what everything does, a bike is piss easy compared to a ICE

Its not that kind of job guys . But if you wanna point your kids in a good direction to learn basic hands on, good work ethic, basic general business experience an customer service, interpersonel skills. some base learning while in school . Or just use it as extra money i guess . I mean thats what I do . Im a auto mechanic and bike mechanic lol . Hell i fixed a lot mowers an other things too 😂. Sometimes it not just about the money its about what you like an are good at . Plus i like doing things for community sake especially these days . People need help an we need more kindness towards eachother.

It’s a dead end job. What’s not though is owning a bike shop later on

I think with any bike mechanic job youre better off working for yourself after you learn the ropes

Discuss what makes this worthwhile, monetarily.

There is only one way to become a professional bicycle mechanic, and that is to get paid for the work performed. The amateurs work for free.

2 years to become a bike mechanic… that’s about 18 months too long. Sorry guys but it’s a bicycle, not a car! Six months tops is what you need to be able to fix all standard bike issues.
