I live far enough in the woods that i hear bangs like that regularly. Heck in november (deer hunting season) its not unusual to hear a shot or series of them ring out every few minutes all day long, especally opening day when its the worst. But all summer you hear at least a few shots every day... the only time you gotta worry about it is if you hear 3 ring out, pause for a bit, then 3 more. Thats considered a distress call...
