EXCELLENT! Look no further - this is the best recipe for PLUM Jam!
This dark purple preserve has a wonderfully fruity taste using chef's old fashioned recipe.

Cut up plums or use canned (really, I would only use fresh but canned should work)
Cook into a mush, about 15 minutes, cook the pits seperately in water then add the juice to the fruit pulp.
Or put it all in without cuttinf up and get the pits out when it turns to a mush.
Measure the liquid or know your pot so you can easily guess how much you have.
In the big pot put:
454 grams or 1 pound of crystal sugar for each 20 ounces or 2 1/2 cups liquid.

Bring to boil to setting point, 15 minutes. See video if not sure.
Some people as pectin or some such, but I don't need to.

Have your jars boiling for steralizing and put the Jam in the jars.

my plum tree has at least 500 very sweet deep purple/red to the core meat, with such a huge amount of plums i've geven many out to surrounding dwellings and plan to make wine and jam!!
I planted the tree 1 decade ago and this is the first it has produced big edible amazing fruit! it's about 20ft high. very big plum tree!

there are probably over 500, i have picked around 30lbs from off my 12ft A-frame ladder and i think i took about 1/5th of the tree. the local squirrels have been having a party, life is way too easy for them right now!! 😄

Hi Sprig, I enjoyed your video an I tried it with plums of my tree, it came out ok, but I wasn't sure when it had set, it seemed quite runny, so I boiled it for nearly 45 mins it was still a bit runny but I bottled it up. When it cooled it tasted lovely but had set really stiff, am trying it again but not gonna boil it so much, see how it goes lol.

After bottling the jam in jar's, dad used to bake them in the oven re-sterilize the jam and John before sealing. Don't remember the temperature it was probably 200 C
It would keep the ages, like years and years

You had glass jars and boiled them clean, I'm astonished thinking the boiling process would break the glass? Are they "pyrex type" heat resistant standard?
