Firefighters in Bangladesh have managed to put out a factory fire that has been burning since Thursday.
At least 52 people died after the blaze in a food and beverage factory on the outskirts of the capital, Dhaka.
An investigation is under way.
Factory fires are common in Bangladesh, where many of the businesses operate illegally and without safety measures.

Al Jazeera’s Tanvir Chowdhury reports from Rupganj, Bangladesh.

These industrialists need to stop treating workers like animals. Bangladesh has come a long way from when these incidents were just part of being an improvised country. We have enough to provide basic rights to all workers.

Stupid people why dafaq would you lock a burning factory with people inside? The owners haven't heard of a fire drill? This was a fire un-drill dafaq -.-'. Put those responsible in prison! RIP to all souls 🙏

Whoever locked the doors needs to be caught first. Look through their employment files. Find out who ordered to lock the doors and who did the dirty job

Similar case happened in the past in Bangladesh with Rana plaza. it seem's like the same problem is repeating itself. Why is the government not doing anything to prevent such a thing from re-happening? People shoudn't work in factories without safety measures, the people running them should be put to jail.

Bangladesh is already struggling so much, cases are rising fast and they already had 1 million of them.
THIS just makes it works
it even pains me a lot because most of my family live in bangladesh.
I deeply wish Bangladesh to have a better future..
May allah bless the bengalis

May the Creator provide comfort to the families of the victims and missing persons. These industries need to pay *MORE* attention to the safety measures that put the workers first before worrying about profit!

This is just plain sad. These fires are too frequent. I know that working conditions are poor and Bangladesh is poor. But half of these can be avoided by simple safety commonsense. Keep a few fire extinguishers, don't lock your employees in for gods sake have a door man and give employees simple safety trainings.

Couple of things to consider.. worker are here work hard but not enough money.. usually working hour time owner lock those building main gate and few person know where the key is .. luck of firefighters training and when fire occurs workers and supervisor don’t know what to do.. luck of fire extinguisher as well..(usually they stay on paper) and definitely those building don’t have any fire escape path..

The fact that there's also kids from 11years upwards who were working in this factory and died isn't widely reported... Including this news source. Disgusting. They were paid around 20cents per hour. It's 2021 !

I don't think so it's a accident, same case was happend in factory at Karachi Pakistan where main gate was locked and workers didn't scape from fire.
