In your free e-book, I think the Making Change problem should be rephrased to "write a function to compute the minimum number of coins required to make that amount of change". Because if it's just the total number of coins, we could follow the greedy algorithm and always get a solution since there's an assumption of 1 cent coin being always there.

Thank you so much! I was trying to learn dp looking by analyzing solutions of popular problems. The solutions in this book are much easier to understand because of the method you outlined + diagrams.
