This is extremely well presented, thank you! While there's little mention of it, it seems if the partner is deemed 'low risk' and holds an ETA eligible passport, than one comes in on that, applies for Onshore, and then Bridging.

Martin, thank you so much for the videos. My question is, if my tourist visa rejected, it is ok for me to reapply?

Hey Martin, is the Silver pathway still applicable for SC 300 PMV, the same way as 309/100? Many thanks.

great content!I’ve been in Australia since September 2014 on a WHV, then student and graduate visas. Unfortunately, due to a lack of skills and poor immigration advice, I haven’t secured sponsorship and have decided to leave when my current visa expires in mid-June.

I plan to spend about 3 months in thailand and may return to the UK afterward—my plans are still uncertain, and life feels on hold.

I’ve recently started dating someone here, aus citizen, While it’s not a formal relationship yet, there’s potential, and she is willing to give it a go, Given this, should I:

A. Register the relationship, open a joint account, then leave and apply for a tourist visa from overseas later? and apply on shore if tourist is granted
B. Apply for a tourist visa onshore before my current visa expires? and apply for defacto on shore if tourist

Any advice would be appreciated.

Hi, I have one concern around the Tourist Visa —> Partner Visa strategy that I’m hoping you can alleviate.

For context, I’m a British citizen with an Australian partner. Following the ‘gold’ pathway, the first step would be to register our relationship with the NSW government.

In order to register our relationship, I need to provide 3 proof of identity documents including a Medicare card OR Private healthcare card.

I’ve read online that it can take up to 3-4 weeks to receive a Medicare card (is it even possible to obtain one on a Tourist Visa?). It will then take minimum 28 days to obtain the recognition of our registered relationship before we can apply for the Partner Visa.

My concern is around timeframes and managing to fit this all in within 3 months. Is this feasible?

Hi Martin! Good video, way better than others explain it, thank you very much! For the 300 visa, "History of relationship statement", do you know by any chance if it's a specific form or do i just write a statement on blank paper?

Hello. I'm a romanian citizen wanting to migrate to australia to be with my partner. We have been together since december 2024 long distance, and she has visited me for a month in may 2025. What I am getting from this video is, my best option would be to apply for an evisa and then for an onshore bridging visa. My partner is a new zealand citizen and she has been living and working in australia since 2023. Would that be the safest path for us? Please let us know, any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Good day Martin, I'm an Australian citizen born in Sri LANKA. I met my wife in Sri LANKA and got married and we applied for our first Tourist VISA November 2023 so that she would get here quickly but unfortunately it refused in December 2023. So we had no option to apply for offshore partner visa in February 2024 and then we advised to apply for another tourist visa with better chances because of on the going partner visa but that got refused to in September 2024. But November 2024 we received our first RFI to upload my original birth certificate and Australian police check which was uploaded in December 2024. So my question is why do they ask my birth certificate even after my citizenship ceremony and how long does it roughly take them process after RFI. THANK YOU

Such a nice video, I have never seen anyone describe so clearly and eloquently, kudos!
Is Silver the best option for someone who is already married?

Hi Martin. We are living together overseas, but I am concerned about the application for the 309/100 visa. Is it a requirement for the sponsor to be physically in Australia while applying as a sponsor? He is an Australian citizen but has been working overseas for almost 10 years and hasn’t flown back during that time. He also doesn’t own a house or have a rental property in Australia, so he has no evidence to show that he is settled onshore. thanks

How can we justify requirements of "usually resident in Australia" while both 309-applicant and sponsor living overseas? Sponsor lived 2 months in Aus after PR grant

I need your help and advice please.
We met and lived together for 4 months (same home, in Japan). She then moved to Australia on working holiday visa.
I had to move back to my country in Europe, I lost my job.
I got a new job in Australia, but her visa is expiring, so I would need to bring her as a partner.

We lived together for 4 months, the 9 months long distance.
Do you think we can get the de facto?

Hey Martin, thank you for the amazing video!
I’ve got my wife’s 600 (family sponsored) recently and it came with 8503 and 8531. Will she still be eligible for bva if I apply her 309 before she enters Australia?
