Quoting Rightmove asking prices is a waste of time. Their asking price movement is based on all NEW properties listed that month, it doesn’t take into account asking prices of all other properties previously listed OR prices that have reduced. So technically if no properties came on the market in the current month then the average asking price would be zero. If one new property was listed the following month for £1 million then the average asking price would be £1 million. Their asking prices are across all property types in all parts of the UK. So figures are totally meaningless.

House prices always fluctuate if you look at recent history - but overall house prices have always gone up.. it’s the same old cliche’ (it’s not about timing the market, it’s about time in the market)

This crazy world is making me depressed. Politicians have completely destroyed people’s lives and this volatility is ridiculous. Everything is up and down like a roller coaster.

3 bed ex council flats in SE26 had offers accepted within weeks of listing. Properties will sell if listed at a realistic price. I don’t see a crash happening when properties get snapped up like this.

Ah at last prices going down to sensible levels, It will be for the best in the long run, lower house prices mean lower repayments good news for all the buyers trying to get on the ladder. I don`t understand why buyers would pause until the new Government was in and start now, because we have not had a budget yet so we know nothing about them and this lot seem very unpredictable.

it will only happen if there is enough supply, meaning building at least 1m houses where most needed over next 5 years! unfortunately the system punishes us the tax payer by unnecessary complicated house development planning system for those who want to build their own house so that we never get debt free which favours bank and those who run the show!

Hello I am in a position to buy a flat.
However I am wondering if I should wait. My landlord has told me that he is selling up and do I want to buy the flat I am in.
Looked at a flat today...bit expensive for what it was.
So should I wait a bit for sellers to get real

Prices will continue to fall. Taxes are and will be rising especially on property (council tax, CGT, IHT). Who wants an expensive house ? No one !

Will this make builders build new house and kick start the construction industry?

I think we will see a correction in the housing market, especially London. As remote working becomes the norm and people lower their standards due to affordability, there’s no reason to live in an overcrowded overpriced city
