Apple's iPhone 17 Air: Why So Thin...

I'm not gonna call the iPhone 17 Air as impossibly thin, but I do like what I see regardless..

As yes.. Some leaked comparisons of Apple's iPhone 17 Air point to some interesting design choices. It seems Samsung's Galaxy Z FlipFE is real, but let's just say you've seen it before. Apple doesn't seem to want to slow down with its M chips, as reports on the M5 have begun to emerge, though at the expense of major changes. Android 16 Beta 1 has already begun to prove that the whole copying between iOS and Android remains a thing. Anyone curious for those color options of the Galaxy S25 Edge, we finally have something.. Sort of.

I rather have a larger battery than thinner

Everyone talking about how they’d prefer a larger battery over a thinner design, meanwhile I’m over here with arthritic hands considering “downgrading” from my 15 Pro. I miss the lightweight days

You lose the novelty of a thin phone once you put a case on it and the majority of people will do that at some point.

Thinness is not a huge consideration but I pulled my old iPhone 6 Plus out off a drawer the other day and was astounded at how thin and light it was compared to my 15 pro Max.

I’m done with big heavy phones so yeah a slim phone for me excites me! Let’s hope the battery life isn’t compromised. I’m upgrading this year from my 14 pro max and the iphone air is on my radar!

No stupid extra buttons and no island. Touch ID on power button and more sharper front screen corners

I dug an iPhone 6s out today. Wow, it felt so good. We have become so conditioned to bigger, thicker, and heavier devices. I definitely think there's a market for thinner units, even with the associated compromises.

Bigger battery, less camera lenses but bigger sensors.

They should rather try to develope new cameras that are thinner instead of releasing phones with small batteries....I would love to go back to a phone where you can just put a ultra thin case around it, and then you can put it on a table without any wobble

I prefer a big battery and a flush decent camera over a thin phone.

I'm a die hard Samsung Ultra phone user. I do like the idea of a super slim phone, but I need the zoom lens more than I want a slim phone.

+1 for thinner, but also smaller too. Ideally even smaller than the pro.

I’d much rather have a bigger, better battery than a super thin phone.

Making ultra thin phones was a fad many years ago, started by Apple, and resulted in some very slim devices, especially on the Android side. There were no tangible benefits to this war and it was abandoned, thankfully. Ergonomically speaking, most phones aren't too thick, and making them thinner would compromise features and cost more. So unless you're a woman wearing skinny jeans with almost no space in your pocket, and need a wafer-thin device to slide in there, you're better off getting something that looks more normal-sized. I'd much rather they tried to reduce the size of massive camera modules - but that would take too much effort, when it's easier to retry an old gimmick from the past.

I’ve been rocking with Jamie since he was “Tech..Eh” a long time glad to see he’s still delivering great insight into the tech world. 👍🏾

Clearly the Air is Apple’s precursor to putting two of them together to make the foldable phone.

Keeping my 13pro max 256g until I can’t get no more batteries. My phone is in prestine condition.

I like thinnest and battery life combined

Rather have a bigger battery than a thin phone. Seems like every 10-12 years or so they want us to have the "thinnest phone, ever" (Tim Cook voice).
