Today we’re going to talk about one of the major hidden reasons for hair loss. Have you heard of vitamin H? You might know it as biotin. Biotin acts as a cofactor for certain enzymes, especially for the hair and skin.

Biotin deficiency symptoms:

• Hair loss (alopecia)
• Thinning hair
• Brittle nails
• Skin rash
• Loss of hair color
• Mild depression
• Muscle pain
• Extreme tiredness

It’s important to know what could be causing a biotin deficiency. It’s probably not from a lack of biotin in your diet, because biotin is in a lot of different foods. Raw eggs also have a certain chemical that blocks biotin absorption. But, to have this happen, you would have to consume 6-8 raw eggs every day for several months.

Foods rich in biotin:

• Almonds
• Eggs
• Onions
• Tomatoes
• Peanuts
• Salmon
• Romaine lettuce
• Cauliflower

The two main biotin deficiency causes:

• Not enough good intestinal bacteria
• The inability to absorb biotin in the small intestine

There can be other hair loss causes. But, if you have hair loss, and you’ve tried a lot of other different things, the hidden reason for hair loss could be a vitamin B deficiency.

How to help stop hair loss in this situation?

• Take a biotin supplement
• Take probiotics

Wish I had known this in my early twenties. But that's neither hair nor there. 🦲

About three years ago I lost close to 80% of my hair in a 4 month time frame. I went to naturopath after naturopath looking for help. Everyone of them was convinced it was thyroid, biotin, or zinc deficiency. None of those treatments helped and I wound up with a nice new wardrobe of wigs to hide my rather bare scalp. I finally found Dr. Jonathan Wright that told me rapid hair loss is always an amino acid deficiency. As we age we produce less and less hydrochloric acid in our stomachs which is needed to digest protein and break it onto amino acids. I was put on amino acid IV treatments which immediately stopped the clumps of hair from falling out, and now take HCL with pepsin with all my meals. 3 years later I have more hair than I ever had! Dr. Wright wrote an entire book about stomach acid but he also talks about the HCL hair-loss connection in Suzanne Sommers new book on aging ( he is her doctor too!). Female hair loss is a horrible thing....I lived it. Hopefully this helps someone that can’t find the answer from the usual remedies.

I thought he was going to say that we are losing hair due to insulin resistance & do intermittent fasting to reverse it.

It took me 6 months to correct my Biotin deficiency: my hair grew dramatically, my nails are stronger, but the most important fact: no more extreme tiredness after eating, no more sleepy eyes, more alertness, no more migraines, no more muscle numbness.

I am a walking example of this. I’ve been sick with autoimmune diseases for 10 years. Each year I’ve lost more and more hair with spots of complete baldness. A year ago things got so bad, it led me to the hospital which led me to a new (my 4th) gastroenterologist who instructed me to stop eating wheat and dairy. This was the first gastroenterologist to ever offer such advice after a lifetime of IBS symptoms. This led me on my research journey which led me here to Dr. Berg. I’ve been following his advice for a year now. I’ve been supplementing, intermittent fasting, eating healthy keto, trying to repair my gut. The hair growth has improved but not as much as I’d like. I recently started increasing my prebiotic and probiotics. The improvements are drastic! My alopecia is almost healed now. I’m hoping my autoimmune diseases improve more also. It’s even provided benefit to my son with autism. Gut health is everything!

I had a spot balding about the size of a quarter. I used rosemary and peppermint oil and massaged it on everyday or night for 6 months. My bald spot is gone now. You can't see the smooth spot anymore.

I don't believe that _androgenic alopecia_ has anything to do with a lack of biotin.
I'm much more convinced by the chronically-high _cortisol_ argument.

I have a female relative who suffered for the last 30 years. Biotin and Silica did not help her and physicians couldn't find an answer and told her, it's irreversible. For another reason entirely I put her on milk thistle and dandelion root and the hair loss unexpectedly slowed down remarkably. By chance we found a high dosage of collagen supplement (from cow) improved her situation tremendously, hair follicles that were defined dead started producing new hair again. After a few months even her hair person (who didn't know about the supplements) noticed. My relative may never have a full head of hair again but she's celebrating every new hair on her had and seems very happy with the results so far.
Just sharing in case these finds might help someone else out there.

I am a dermatologist and this is video focussing on all the wrong reasons of hairloss. He is discussing role of food in hairloss which is very minimal unless someone is really deficient or has bad diet for months and years

When I was in my 20s i lost about 40% of my hair mostly from the front and top.
I did a lot of research into it, infact 2 years in total.
This led me to try the following; I started intermittent fasting, and taking amino acids, with a multitude of various vitamins, I also started to massage my scalp with a mix of organic coconut oil, flaxseed oil and onion juice in the mornings, and leave it on my scalp all day. It didn't have much smell so wasn't a problem.
In the evenings I applied shea butter onto my scalp and wrapped a hypoallergenic cloth around my head which stayed on for a few hours, after which I showered, applied aloe Vera gel on my hair and slept.
I followed this regime every day for at least 8 years.
I'm now in my 30s and as bold as a coot.
