Celebrations abound at the Chateau de Lalande as it's both Bastille Day in France, and we have the long-awaited Return of Marie!!! It's so wonderful to have her back. She ran straight into the old tables to start organising her floristry studio, and as the first delivery of flowers arrives tomorrow, we can expect to see magnificent floral creations gracing the chateau's rooms soon! Marie's arrival helped to soften the blow of Scotman's departure, but he's hoping to return next month. LOVE SELMAR’S GARDEN BEDS. They are whimsical and creative. They are exactly what a flower garden in such a creative place needs. It would be absolute sacrilege to cut them straight! In fact, over time they all should be replaced to have a natural edge 😊 Art is about beauty and the unexpected ... nature is not straight lines. I too love symmetry and yet walking through that garden and glimpsing some unusually creative garden edgings in one corner would be a fitting homage to Selmar and in a hundred years would make the visitor reflect on the story behind those non-matching garden beds.

I absolutely LOVE the more rustic natural look of the beds.I think once they are planted you will love them, leaves will enhance the lines. The dahlias will likely do wonderfully. I would be exceptionally proud of those roses.
