Oh, woe is me, About 3 years ago I bought an All-in-One Desktop PC. Brian, I have gone through your videos, and there has been a lot of time troubleshooting. Thanks for all of your hard work.
I see a New PC in the future

Excellent video Brian. A few points I experienced: I went to a reputable reseller but I found that my screen was slightly out of skew and the audio out socket didn’t work. Most laptops get dropped at least once and if things are plugged in, the sockets get damaged so check power, usb etc. In my case I just had to re-solder the audio jack and realign the screen hinges.

At this point I have bought over a dozen laptops off eBay and at times have taken a real gamble, but luckily I've never had anything that was too far off the mark.

Good video Brian and I agree the ones with no return are simply no good The only exception I would buy a refurbished laptop would be a for a child who just wants to play simple games and one would then have to restrict the use of the machine while on the net unless that games can be bought on a USB stick DVD feature. Plus lets face it laptops these days are really not that much more expensive than these throw outs, so worth waiting for a little bit longer and save yourself money and grief.

Thank you for all the advice, i will start looking for general use laptops from 10th gen for the extra security support updates.

There are local small outlets that sell laptops from companies. A few years ago, I bought an HP with Pro from one. There was a one year guarantee. It was apparently unused. It was 150€ and worked well. I had a couple of questions and the vendor called the distributor and got me answers. Unfortunately, I lost it in a burglary. I looked for another one and found a Lenovo LTSC in 2021 for 200€. It has an oversized battery good for 5+ hours, SSD, and was as new, probably unused also. I have had a problem with either.

I was shopping around for a laptop for a while. I wanted decent performance, slim bezels, FHD and a SSD. But I didn't want to spend too much. While I'm no computer expert, I was sure I could rely on my research skills 😅 I think tlmy patience paid off, as I end up purchasing an used ASUS Vivobook 15, with 16gb ram, 256gb SSD, slim bezels, thin laptop, compact charger, i3 7th gen processor... For £80. What you guys think?

I have a Desktop PC, so I wonder, is there any real reason for my owning a Lappie? Oh I know about being out and about, especially if also carrying a portable WiFi dongle etc, etc, surfing the web while sitting under a tree, on a sunny day on the Common, or in a Park. But is that really enough, given we all have smartphones which are (to a degree) more powerful than many lappies.

Free?
Yeah, that about sums it up.
Spending any money on a "most likely to be useless in no time" item.. Worse than toilet paper.
