so technically this exact song isn’t from the right era haha, but the original is from the 2000s so I hope that counts.

so the reason I chose this song is because growing up in the 2000’s/2010’s, I couldn’t wait to become a teenager. I always looked up to the teenagers in my life, especially at dance, and seriously all I wanted was to just hurry up and be a teenager. I thought everything would be perfect as a teenager, you know you see movies and these characters live the perfect lives, or even if it isn’t perfect at first, it ALWAYS works out for the main character. Moreover I couldn’t wait to have a boyfriend lmao, because that was a massive thing in teen movies and tv shows. Now i realise that was really all just a dream, a ‘teenage dream’ if I may.

Now I realise that life is definitely way different from the movies haha, and my life will never be perfect, I don’t have a boyfriend, I don’t even have a best friend, but that’s okay. My life is still good enough and I’m so blessed that I am able to do things like dance, and work. So I chose this sadder kind of version of this song because it reminds me that even though it makes me a bit sad that I won’t ever get my perfect teenage dream, I will still get a good one.
