I had one in the 90's - into a Marshall 4x10 - sunburst '77 Precision, could lift the roof and took 2 people to carry... 4 KT 88's - built '71 and still the same valves, my buddies got it now, he's a drummer - came in for the rehearsal in his shed and the amp was still switched on - for 2 weeks.

I played one of these the other day and I can't stop thinking about it. I have the Ampeg PF-50T and I love it, but this blows it out of the water.

Power tubes just do something to you tone that you really can't get any other way IMHO. It's sort of like a compression, but I would describe it as taking the transient and mixing it in a blender with some rum and strawberries and serving it up with some whip cream on top.

Luv the head and 2 x 12" speaker cab... I hope they still make these for a fair price, 100w valve should be pretty loud enough for pub gigs... Will have to check this out if still made by Ampeg... Good demo bud... Really nice tone, a great combo for practise sessions and small gigs... wonder how loud it goes before breaking up 👍

I'm happy to hear how neutral it sounds flat. That's how a bass amp should sound flat.

it would take another video with a passive bass to feel all the real timbre of the amplifier

I was in a Guitar center and played guitar thru it to find out what the "gain" and master volume were about..and wow did it sound great, just like live Rolling Stones "Get yer ya ya's out". This confuses me in two ways, One: I thought bass players try to keep it clean as possible. Two: I thought that if it sounded just like a modern high gain tube amp that it would be marketed as a guitar amp also. Keep in mind, that this master volume is not at all like the lame version from the 70's, this is a finely tuned gain, not a flabby harsh farty type of distortion. If they were not so expensive I'd seriously consider buying one...for guitar of course.

Is he running through a compressor? I've never heard a V4B that sounded that squished.

Ampeg really needs to work on their breakup more with there gain if they really wanna last in this modern game of new amps.

If that music man is active. Its not a good demo for the v4b . I dont understand why not use a passive bass . It will give you a true sound .

What a horrible demo. Sorry. I love some slap and pop but its not a good method of demonstrating tube warmth
