AWS Step Functions: JSONPath data processing

preview_player
Показать описание
In this session, viewers learn how to process, transform, and preserve the state of their AWS Step Functions workflows. JSONPath is introduced, and the InputPath, OutputPath, ResultPath, and DefaultPath fields are discussed for input and output processing in states. The context object and its fields are explained, and the effects of null on different fields are presented. Iterative examples are built that take the user from a simple base case of empty input to a complex workflow that implements all of the available path options.

Skip to Sections:
* JSONPath (2:18)
* Input processing (3:40)
* Output processing (7:35)
* Destructive merge (14:05)
* ResultPath (16:25)
* OutputPath (29:36)
* Pass State transformations (34:56)
* Filtering arrays (51:18)

What an awesome tutorial. Now these State Machine definitions all make sense to me. Keep up with this work. Earned a sub!

Thank you so much Rob!! This was so insightful and super helpful to understand the ADSL for step functions. Really appreciate the hard work you put in for the streams and how honestly you drilled down the errors and explained the syntax with so much details. This is a gem of a video for those who are too scared or lazy to go through the docs themselves.

You saved me so much work. I could not figure out how to cut down my output json to just what I wanted at the root level. Thank you so much for this video. Thank you, thank you.

For the life of me I can't seem to pass additional data into a map state or access the input data anywhere in the workflow. What's crazy for me is that it seems we need to pass along original input state and there is no way of accessing global keys or vars within a single state machine. Frustrating.

I wish you were more clear when explaining the key points instead of just rushing through or calling out someone in twitch!

So a state machine type would not change once the state machine created with either type.
