Things to do in Astoria, Oregon. Hello and thank you for watching our video on Astoria City, Oregon. In this video we will show you things to do, where to eat, and also show you some clips of the running of the Great Columbia River Crossing 10k. Kim and I spent the weekend in our Lance travel travel trailer and camped at Fort Stevens State Park. One of the best State Parks for camping on the Oregon Coast. While there, we toured the City of Astoria. Astoria is surrounded by the beauty of the forest, mountains, three rivers and the sea. Because of its steep hills and beautiful Victorian homes, Astoria has been called the “Little San Francisco of the Pacific Northwest.” Just across Youngs Bay is Warrenton, a city of more than 5,000, that encompasses Fort Stevens State Park and its broad, clean ocean beaches. We toured the boardwalk were we saw sea lions, toured shops and hit up a couple of awesome breweries which included Buoy Brewing and Astoria Brewing. Back at camp we toured a section of the Oregon Coast in which you can actually drive your vehicle on. Kim ran the Great Columbia River Crossing 10k which was pretty awesome. She got a chance to run over the Astoria-Megler Bridge that separates Oregon and Washington State.The uphill portion of the bridge is a little more than 3,250 feet, which is about .61 of a mile. The hill starts about 3.9 miles into the race. The bridge crest is about 4.5 miles into the race. The grade of the hill is 5.62%, or a little less than a 4° slope. The race was 6.2 miles in total.
