Real Life in Madagascar: Walking the Chaotic Streets of Antananarivo

Back for my 4th trip to Madagascar. As usual, my flight lands in Antananarivo. This trip I'm staying near the Place de l'independence for the 1st time. I would recommend staying in the area if you are in town. I booked 3 nights at the Hotel La Pousse Pousse, will be taking a Cotisse bus to Majunga later today.

I'm from Toronto but my grand-father is originally from that very city. I've never been to Madagascar but i was pleasantly surprised to see a Toronto man going there. I'm impressed, it is not at all a typical destination for north americans.

Madagascar is the best place to visit if you like diversity and ordinary lifestyle as a tourist. There are lots of attractions for very cheap and you have to be careful of pick pockets. Enjoy the simplicity.

The design of the city is very much Southeast asian..it does not look like other african countries at all.

Don't be so afraid of Antananarivo dear!😅 We're in the center of all of these diversities so that's why you can find everything and every kind of persons here, including the greatest but also the worst 🤣

fascinating.... as one of the poorest countries, it suprisingly doesn't look too bad. Not saying its wealthy or anything, but definitely much better than the stats seems

Ne changez pas vos dollars à l'aéroport. Changez à l'hôtel, demandez l'hôtel saint pierre très bien et pas cher, le gérant m. Benjamin vous aura un taux bien meilleur, et à peu près tout ce que vous voulez. N' oubliez pas que les commerçants parlent en fmg et non en ariary. Quand on vous demande 10 000 il faut payer 2000 ariary. Enjoy!
