Retracing Mk Stalin's Journey From Films To Politics | Watch This Report

The induction of actor-turned-politician Udhayanidhi Stalin, 45, the only son of Tamil Nadu chief minister M.K. Stalin, into the state cabinet has not come a day too soon. On December 14, at a brief ceremony, governor R.N. Ravi administered the oath, making Udhayanidhi the 35th minister in the DMK (Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam) government.

Soon afterwards, Udhayanidhi said he would consider his ministerial elevation as a responsibility and visited the memorial of the late DMK president M. Karunanidhi, before driving to Fort St George to take charge at the state secretariat. Father M.K. Stalin has picked him for the onerous task of handling the portfolios of youth welfare and sports development, special programme implementation department, and poverty alleviation programme and rural indebtedness. Udhayanidhi is also serving as DMK youth wing secretary, a post Stalin Sr had held for over 30 years.
