Great job helping the boating community. We are trying to do the same. Keep up the great work.

A clove hitch is fast, but also the number one reason fenders are lost while the boat is unattended because any movement and jostling can work the knot loose.
When leaving the boat for longer periods, and especially if the boat is moving around at the dock, use a round turn and two half hitches.

I only use the quick release hitch on the boat fenders and all the ladies bikini's. When we get away from the dock, I quickly remove them all, no need for the fenders, or bikinis.

Do knows long enough you meet people who do a knot you invent. Or better there invented it in their time on the other side of the world. That's Owesome!

Love clove hitch but I put half hitch on rail with loop, so if line is pulled accidentally finder won't be lost overboard in wake!

In my opinion, if you're adding hitches to the cleat, go ahead and add your half hitch to the clove hitch. I would never be so pressed for time that I used just slip Clove

On that slipping clove hitch, shoot through the I with the end of the line to prevent someone slipping it

Better to finish the clove hitch with a half hitch else risk losing fenders in choppy marinas.

On the slipping hitch I put the loose tail through the loop so there is now way the knot can be accidentally dislodged but everything is still able to be speedily removed

I do clove hitch with a slipped halfhitch next to it on the rail, while approaching the dock.

What about the knot at the actual fender end? Figure of eight? Round turn and two half hitches? What do you suggest?

round turn 2 hitches is missing! Clove hitch benefits from safety-figure-8 should it wiggle lose, it will at least not get lost.

0:40 I know nothing about popup cleats, but there is no way that ugly mess is the 'right way'.

0:28 what are you going to do if docking line already attached to this cleat? for example in small boats you have to share cleat.

If the view was from the perspective of the person tying the knot and not a third party it would have been a lot more useful

Clove hitch, slipping close hitch yes.. pop up cleat .. wrong.... a simple cleat hit comes off faster and less likely to jam
