There's two things I like about your channel. First, it is built to educate the experienced and the novice (me). You don't talk down to the new shooter and you don't talk above the new shooter. Second, I love the fact that you speak afrikaans every once and awhile. As a guy that grew up in Suriname (Dutch speaking) I can catch a lot of what you are saying. Your channel is lekker!

I got my Vortex Razor HD 4000 just before I went to Switzerland, so I mainly tried it out over there. It scanned quickly in most conditions and in ELR-mode it scanned 3953m/4344yds LOS with the best conditions of the week, a while after sunset but when it was bright enough to see the trees and houses on the mountains. In daytime with a bright sun and intermediate to high humidity 2000 was easy on everything and out to about 3650m was achievable on ELR. During a rainstorm it was still able to scan houses over 2000m away with a quick scan and out to about 3100m away using ELR, but beyond that I didn't get results. That could have been due to the rain cloud not liking the point of reference I used to benchmark before, or at least it seemed to rain heavier over there. All in all I like it very much and the extra range comes in handy in adverse conditions.

So I have the Razor 4000 rangefinder as well. I find it really hard to hit small targets. Like. 10” plate at 400-500 yards is doable but tricky to get a range. It’s best if you have a large landmark next to the target.

I’ve been considering Leica Geovid 10x as rangefinding binos but those are $$$$

I use a Leupold rx1300i tbr.
Not high end, but gets the job done 95% of the time.
To be honest, to range a springbok at 300-400m in the Kalahari earlier this year, was VERY difficult, for me at least.
Had to range each animal 3-4 times just to confirm the distance.
Perhaps I should just buy a rangefinding bino and get it over with.

I dropped my 4000gb down an mountain side 600m bouncing off rocks. It was cased in a hip sack. It survived no problems at all.
My 5000ab was with it. That almost survived. Everything worked except angle finding. Vortex had it replaced in a week and a half.
Currently these are the only ones for me.
The warranty is the top selling point next is that you get the same capabilities as the 8k for half the price. Same with the 5000ab same capabilities as the 10k but 1k$ less and a better warranty.
I've had both these unit out and both have given me first round hits at 1250yards

I bought a cheap one. Worked till it got cold then batteries died. Also only good for 300-500 yards optimal conditions, bought a razor hd4000 and never looked back. I’m not sponsored by vortex.

Bought one when I started thinking 1000 I'll never shot that far and now I'm thinking I wish I'd gotten more.

Would honestly be nice to see unbiast opinions on your show, i love your content and show but it gets tough to only listen to vortex and MdT products,

Diamondback-China, Viper-Philippines, Razor-Japan. IMO avoid all China. The Razor line is incredible.

I understand that you are sponsored by Vortex, but there are much better range finders on the market. If you are a rifleman, the best option are range finding binoculars with very accurate ballistic solutions.
