In 1987 HEAD introduced the Prestige Pro.
It gave the players unprecedented power, control and precision. With this racquet players like Henri Leconte, Thomas Muster and Emilio Sanchez became legendary -- and so did the racquet itself.
Now, the legend continues: with the new HEAD YouTek™ IG Prestige.

We are celebrating 25 years of Absolute Precision.

The original Prestige classic is one of the greatest racquets of all time and the feel can't be replicated! The new Prestige Graphene still plays too crisp for my taste!

The first Prestige mid came out in 1986. It was called TX Professional (TXP). The frame was made in Austria but the racquet was assembled in Boulder, Colorado, USA. The racquet was white.
It is the exact same racquet as the Prestige Pro which came out a few months later in Europe, except the cosmetics. In 1988 there was a transitional racquet, named Prestige Pro 600 but had some minor cosmetic differences to the actual PP600 that came out in 1989 (it seems to play a tad flexier like the one before it). Prestige 600 followed in 1991. Up to this point all versions are specced pretty much the same and hence play and feel almost exactly the same.

In 1993 Prestige Classic 600 came out. This and everything that came out after it are specced differently and certainly play and feel awkward compared to the pre-1993 versions. There seems to have occurred a compositional change, in addition to the specs regarding weight, balance, swingweight, perhaps stiffness as well.

If anyone is interested in the Prestige mid DO NOT get anything from 1993 and onwards. Get the Prestige Pro 600. It's not as ultra-rare as the earlier ones or the Prestige 600 (silver/green), therefore you'll be able to find one in decent condition. As long as there are no cracks on the frame do not worry about it being old and worn. These frames are top quality and are extremely durable. My main racquet is from 1989 and is batterred and worn heavily, yet it plays and feels perfectly fine.

Great video, loved seeing the past greats and the prestige pros and pc600s. Sure wish some retros could be rereleased like wilson has done for the prostaff 60.

The problem with the Prestige is that HEAD uses the graphene material now to make the rackets so much lighter and taking away the true touch and mystic character play from the prestige (making it unable to get the feel)

One thing I would like them to change is the specification on the rackets (all rackets have the same specs as the previous models of the prestige)
