Qualcomm built a reference device around the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2. Benchmarking data for the newest QRD is now available. In this video I compare the peak performance of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 QRD with the previous generations of QRDs.

I'm very curious to see how fast the 8 Gen 2 speed test flies through if you're still doing the Speed Test G.

I hope Samsung never gets to manufacture chips for Qualcomm ever again

... really happy with my Exynos2200 which achieves some 1200/3700 and 985K respectively... An upgrade is usually worthwhile by 50%+ improvement... (8+G2 or 8G3 when they hit 1800/6000 and 1, 5+ million in AnTuTu)

Jumping from Snapdragon 835 to Snapdragon 8 Gen 2. Should be a huge upgrade! Ranging anywhere from 3-5x (200-400%) boost to performance in both CPU and GPU tasks.

Gary, where's speed test G? I enjoyed that channel.

Theyre already doing wonders, what more if they have Oryon on their mobile platforms in the near future.

Power efficiency is very important too, heating also, need to see it in real life, processors between snap 865 and snap 8 gen 1 were all more powerful but overheated too much!

Yes definitely buying the s23 ultra next year. Skipped this year because of sd 8 gen 1.

Pretty incredible! Can't wait to start seeing more laptops rocking ARM hardware. Quick comparison of single threaded Geekbench scores:
M1 scores 1700
M2 and A16 Bionic score 1900
AMD 5950 scores 1700
AMD 7950 scores 2200

No, my current device already does everything I need plenty fast enough. I don't play mobile games. I might consider upgrading if the new SoC allowed for double the battery life for the same battery size as my current device.

That is truly promising indeed! Still, the extra power is kind of a "niche" at this point considering any "mid-range phone" has enough power to do pretty much anything.

Gary, please renew the Speed Test G channel, It was such a unique and outstanding speed test out there. Quick and enjoyable to watch, plus your comments during the battle were exciting. :)

Qualcomm's own devices are always unlocked more than in the phones their chips are put on. So benchmarks in this case give basically best case scenario for performance. Yet if you do that in a regular phone the battery life will pack up and exit

I'm only interested in the efficiency and gpu scores

Wasn't sure if I was going to upgrade this year. Between the chip performance and rumored S23 Ultra camera upgrades, I'm thinking that there's a new device in my not so distant future! 👍😁🙌😎

Im fascinated with the advancements of the tech but I don't see myself buying a new phone this year. I have an iPhone with the A13 and a mid-range Galaxy with the Snapdragon 750g but I'm using a Motorola with a Snapdragon 662 and enjoying the Motorola more than the other 2 phones (not that the other 2 are bad) but I think that has more to do with the more "stock" android experience and a lot less to do with the chip. Now I'm reevaluating my thinking a little.

Sir Gary please continue the Speed test G 🙏🏻

Chips have enough power already for the last 3 to 4 years, I am happy with the power of my phones 845, just increase the battery life now
