Today we celebrate Faa Mai’s fifteenth birthday—a beautiful soul who has radiated joy, kindness, and love since the day she was born.
With her ever-present smile, Faa Mai brings happiness to everyone around her, both elephants and humans alike. Her heart is as gentle as her nature, and she has always been full of compassion for others.
Every time a new elephant arrives at the sanctuary, it is Faa Mai who steps forward first—to greet, comfort, and reassure them. If the newcomer is nervous or afraid, she will stay by their side, sometimes even sleeping next to them, until they feel safe in their new home.
As a young nanny elephant, Faa Mai has lovingly cared for many baby elephants, acting as both their guardian and playmate.
From a young age, Faa Mai has loved my lullabies. When I sing in the middle of the field, she often gathers the younger elephants, gently guiding them with her trunk. And if they’re scattered in different directions, she will even take me by the arm and lead me to them—because to Faa Mai, being together is what matters most.
She is like an elephant ambassador, always working to bring the herd closer, encouraging them to live as one big, peaceful family.
Faa Mai’s extraordinary personality, her empathy, and her deep sense of connection are what make her so beloved. She was truly born to make the world a kinder, brighter place.
